The Celtics announced today that guard Ray Allen has exercised the option on his contract for next season.

The widely expected move will bring Allen back for a fifth season with the Celtics. The 35-year-old averaged 16.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season, making his 10th All-Star team in the process. He shot a career-high 44.4 percent from 3-point range and became the league’s all-time 3-point leader when he passed Reggie Miller in a game against the Lakers on Feb. 10.

Looks like the Celts are making one more run at it. He could of been useful for the Bulls.

Ray Allen is still a very, very good player considering his age. That's why shooting is so essential. Even when you're all bogged down with Battier-like athleticism; I mean uh... intangibles. You can still rely on your silky smooth jumper.

of course he stayed. why would he give up all the money to take the MLE somewhere else?

plus because of the championship no other team or city would appreciate him as much as they do in boston. he can do no wrong there.

Doubt any other contender would have offered more than the 10 mil he's slated for in Boston.

Both an easy and obvious decision for him.
