Again, shooting gaps and tipped passes in the passing lane he excels at. What I said was lock down 1 on 1 perimeter defender. Wade is not even keeping Jason Terry in front of him. Not like he is out on the wing picking Jason kidd's pocket ala chris Paul.

Yes he is. Jerry West was dominant player but he lost seven finals series before winning a ring with Wilt so it's really really hitting his legacy as one of the greatest players of all-time

Joe dumars, Gary Payton are better than wade. But if you level the playing field like that by giving wade a handicap because of his height, I suppose wade is the greatest shooting guard in NBA history under 6'6". Yao is the best NBA center ever over 7'3".

Wade over Kobe? Lmao. You do realize Kobe's accolades destroy Wade's at this point

I think you guys forget how great Kobe was. Yes Shaq was the more dominant player, but Kobe was still the CLOSER and creator in all the rings with Shaq. Without Kobe, Shaq doesn't have anything as a Laker.

Wade has a LONG way to go before you can say he's better than Kobe

I saw West play, but I'm not going to try and rank the players.

we're not comparing Kobe to mle players here, and yeah Wade still needs some more time (an 8th year player just entering his prime isn't really a fair comparison to a 14th year player on the downside of his career), but right now, his measure of excellence means if he continues the consistency, he will be considered better.

I'm going to get smashed for this, I never saw Jerry West play, but I've seen a whole lot of taped games of his. I know someone said West can't compare to Wade's athleticism, which is true. But Jerry West wasn't just a great player, he changed the game, especially at his position. Jerry West was a decade or two ahead of his time, he pratically re-innovated ball handling for years to come. Not to mention that he was a much better shooter than Wade, but I can see where in the "Heat" of the moment, JVG wouldn't disagree with Jackson, because the things that Wade does on the court is just crazy. But there's one name that I haven't seen yet on this topic, Oscar Robertson, I understand that the same number of people saw him play as Jerry West, but there are many pros that say he was better than Jordan. I mean the guy averaged a Triple Double, he didn't get media attention which is why still a lot of people don't know about him. In his Rookie Season, he averaged 30.5 pts, 10.1 rbs and 9.7 ast (league leader). His first 9 years, he was named All NBA 1st Team, in the 61-62 season he averaged 30.8 pts, 11.4 ast and 12.5 rbs, he was a PG/SG. Wade can't do any of what Robertson did.

Wade is a great player, top 5, but he's not Kobe. When both players didn't have help they had similar track records also, what 1st round losses in the playoffs? ha. But look at 05-07 Kobe's numbers were pretty insane that's why I give him the nod, even if it was him being a ball hog, Wade was doing the same thing when he had no help... What else could they do.

Wade had one of the greatest Finals series of all time.

He's still under Jerry West, Kobe and Jordan IMO in all time SG. He has the potential to pass West. I don't think he will pass Kobe or obvoiusly JOrdan

The Big O was a point guard, generally considered the 2nd best of all time too

And I've never really heard of him being considered considered a combo guard.

He was a SF in college, then started at SF in the Olympics (played 1-3 though), but was moved being a combo guard in the pro's, he started games at PG, but also played a good amount of SG too. Every time I have to look up something on him to prove his stats to people I know, it's always listed him as a PG/SG...but there's always room for error.

Some serious disrespect to the Glide in this thread.

Swap the two players and I think Clyde has every bit the success as Wade.

Can Wade score 81 points in a game? People seem to forget how great Kobe were...

If he continues at this level for a few more seasons and wins at least one more championship, I think you have to put him above Jerry West. West had equally as good numbers but only won one championship.

I disagree. I highly doubt any non-Rockets and non-Blazers fan puts Clyde above Wade.
