I would be thrilled with Bogut, but Kaman seems like a more likely possibility (that I would not be disappointed with.
I can only see it if ownership tells management to shed salary because they are spending too much and winning too little. Unfortunately they signed a lot of really bad contracts and Bogut might be their only tradeable asset that could cut costs (since Jennings is on an affordable rookie contract).
Reading these wildly divergent takes on Andrew Bogut is eye-opening. Is every player so controversial?
It sounds like a smart move from our perspective but from their point it's just not a move you make. They don't have anyone besides Jennings to really build on. Plus, Bogut is only 26 years old and when healthy, one of the best centers in the league.
Substitute TWill for Miller in that package, and maybe they talk. Morey could say: "Look, you would be getting 3 2009 lottery picks!"
Bucks have no reason to be trading Bogut.. they're trying to build around him so a team would be having to overpay mightily to snatch him. Our possibilities this summer are: via draft - but sorry, we don't have the means to get Kanter. It'll likely be a lump of coal we hope turns into gold. via our own roster - Thabeet , Hill , Miller , Yao via FA - Fesenko and Jordan for young bigs, Przybilla, Dalembert, Chandler and maybe Nene for veteran bigs. And if it's not any of those above mentioned, Chuckwagon will be our opening day starting 5 in 11-12.
We shouldn't overpay for a stiff. I would rather remain patient and dream big (Howard). Save some money. We don't need another signing like Brad Miller. 2012 is where it's at.
I understand your sentiment, but there are only so many centers in the NBA. There are even less centers that I would want to start over Chuck Hayes. There are even less available centers via free agency/trade that meet the above criteria. So, with all of that in mind, do you really want to fire your GM because he can't generate a 7ft Center out of thin air?
Well its his job to make this team better & its not going to happen unless we get bigger. Chuck Hayes at center earns you a trip to the lottery. Its been proven 2 years in a row. BTW there have been more than few bigs that have changed teams the last 2 years.
There is so much you can do in reality. I don't think it is all on Morey for us not getting a proper C.
Chuck Hayes isn't the problem, he's one part of the solution actually. The problem is the bench, when Chuck leaves the game the defense collapses. This is just a fact. The starting lineup was more than good enough to be a 55 win team if they had competent backups but alas.
^ Although that does beg the question, how sad is it that the FO can't even find a BACKUP for CHUCK HAYES, much less a replacement.
