There's also no connection between being a great GM and being a great coach either. Yet the general accepted fact here is that McHale the Bad GM -> McHale the bad coach. So your refutation has no ground to stand on.

CORRECT REFUTATION: McHale a great player cannot be McHale a great coach because we hate him. Let it be stated, and let it be true.

Not quite. This has nothing to do with RA. Follow this logic:

Kevin McHale was a bad GM(supposedly), therefore he will be a bad coach

Many here see that as fact. Fine. Then here's my fact:

Kevin McHale was a great player, therefore he will be a great coach

Both those statements make the same amount of sense, and use the same logic. You cannot agree/disagree with one without agreeing/disagreeing with the other. Incidentally, if you happen to choose "agree", your head would explode for thinking he is both a bad and great coach. So I guess that leaves us little choice.

This of course has already been explained by me and meh and a few others, albeit sarcastically, so it is pretty funny watching people still scrambling in an uproar over the title. lol (not referring to you)

The point of your thread is extremely murky. I still don't get it. Maybe because I don't care enough to read through the whole thing.

But you cared enough to read through half of it to quote me and respond?

Eh, forget about it. You're right, this was a bad idea. I overestimated some things. Like human intelligence. And don't bother looking a mere 2 posts above yours to find the answer either.

Actually I thought you were just being snide in order to fire up the true believers.

Shouldn't you be on the Grizzlies board?

    EDIT:

Sorry, Battier is a FA. Must be a stressful time for you, not knowing who to bash.

I have no idea what in hell you are talking about. And seriously doubt if you do either.

As in ALL walks of life, nothing "trains" somebody for another role.

The best chef in the world is not guaranteed to make the best restaurant manager. The best person in the parts department has no specific edge when it comes to twisting wrenches. People who de-bug software all day do not automatically know about system hardware.

    End of discussion.

Yet the worst GM makes the worst coach. Got it.

Lol, don't get mad at me because your stupid thread has 1 star. I know it's the off-season for the Rockets, but blind worshipers of the front office like yourself should be able to come up with better thread topics.

Technically, wouldn't Isaiah be the worst GM and coach?

Eh, he was okay as a coach, but terrible when handing out contracts. I'm sure we can find a great GM who was also a great coach if we looked hard enough though. Or a bad coach who was a bad GM. Just like we could find a hot chick who is also smart. Just because they are out there, doesn't mean it is correlated.

I said I did not read through the whole thing. You were the OP. I just looked for your posts to make sense of it.

LOL. After making a confusing thread, you blame other posters for not intelligent enough to understand?

    I'm done.

Your use of logic is horrible. I'm going to try and clear up what you were trying to say, except you have so easily destroyed the (attempted) use of logic.

    X is a Y, therefore X will be Z.

"A father is a parent, therefore a father will be a male."

This statement also works following your logic. And is valid while being sound.

"An apple is a fruit, therefore an apple will be red"

This statement also works following your logic. Although the statement is valid, it is not sound. Because an apple may be green or yellow.

You attempt to give a statement which is said to be fact.

    The example you use,

"Kevin McHale is a HOF player, therefore he will be a great coach."

Is invalid because you can bring up counter example for this argument.

I understand you trying to use logic to show how the comment people use regarding McHale being a HOF player, and thus he will be a great coach. But please do it correctly and show how they are wrong. You set up a horrible first post wanting people to prove you wrong and did a horrible job of explaining what it is you were looking for.

All of this is relative, regarding what makes a great coach, what makes a great player, or even what makes a HOF player. So please don't try to sound intelligent by trying to use logic to make other people's opinions "not true" when you yourself fail at logic.
