Saw it Friday and loved it. I just assumed it was a reboot. Doesn't really work any other way.

    9/10  in the SwoLy-meter.

Saw this with Mrs. SwoLy today. It is easily one of the best PRE-SUMMER Blockbuster movies. I truly enjoyed the interaction between Dr. X and Magneto and also got me teary-eyed how much help there was between them. Although the special effects with the explosions were sort of cheap, everything else is awesome.

If you don't want to be spoiled. Don't read this. I guessed who would die first... and I got it.
Also, if you're black, don't read this.
Duh. Of course the black dude died first.
I told you not to click. And you didn't listen. :p

Also, it was funny... well, ok, not funny, that when the Shaw guy said
    slavery,
they put the black dude on the shot.

It's true. But doesn't spoil anything really.

I thought I was the only one that noticed, I busted out laughing, and everybody in the theater looked at me crazy. His ninja stance when the Shaw guy came into the room was epic also......

    So...

Wolverines older then both Magneto and Professor X right?

In that case who would be the oldest X-Men? or the original mutant?

This is really not a spoiler. Wolverine is older than Magneto and Prof X since he has the healing ability. Same with Mystique if you based it on Marvel comics.

Yes Wolverine is older then Professor X and Magneto. I think he was supposed to be born around somewhere in the 19th century.

Yes he's the oldest, and as for original mutant....idk Apocalypse maybe?

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: British Addition

Good movie, great male leads acting.

Pretty much pooped on characters' history... but it's okay. For comic book purists, just watch it like it's a "What If.."

Was fully expecting gun barrels to protrude from Emma Frost a la Fembots from Austin powers during her intro...

    Clever cameos...

Minor gripe: CG and make-up were less than spectacular.

    i.e. Angel spitting glowing hairballs.

I'd definitely watch the rest of the trilogy.

..and the dialogues are fantastic. Minimal campy one-liners like in the other Xmen movies.

Apocalypse considers himself the first mutant, but in actuality it is probably a character named Selene. In some of her stories she recounts being around long before Apocalypse came into existence.

Wolverine is probably much older than both X and Magneto as Wolverine was a fully grown adult who fought in WWII when both Xavier and Magneto were just children. Sabertooth is older than him. Wolverine was apparently born in the late 1800s.

Mr. Sinister, who I truly hope they depict on screen soon, was also born in the 1800s making him older than both Magneto and X.

I personally thought it was one of the best superhero movies around, just under the Dark Knight. Ignored a lot of the holes, as much as possible and just tried to take it on its own accord. Thought it was very strong across the board with only a few cheesy moments and musical cues.

Read an interview with the director and they were going to put in sunspot, but couldn't make it work.

Sinister isn't a mutant though, right?

Best X-Men movie yet, but maybe I should re-watch the 2nd one from what others have said (it's been awhile).

I know they're doing their own version of things, but I was still a little dumbfounded by some of the characters they chose to start off as recruits. But the main focus was really on Professor X and Magneto so it was acceptable. Nice job by Kevin Bacon too. I didn't know who Rose Byrne was but I'll remember now.

I also thought the same thing when the first guy died, 'how cliche, you can't be serious...'

Can not wait for capt america to come out... simply love how marvel uses ww1,ww2 timeline into an intricate backstory/plotline.... it just works.... the opening scene when all the people being escorted into the camps, I was immediately hooked...

Is that even true? I thought this was a Fox film. Marvel Studios doesn't own those rights yet.

According to Wikipedia, Marvel was the studio and Fox was the distributor.

After thinking about during the weekend, I hope this was Marvel's way of basically wiping the slate clean of everything that was wrong with the original trilogy/Wolverine and just keeping what they considered good. Creating this alternate reality/dimension of X-Men makes it possible to fix the stupid things that Fox did with Rogue and Cyclops while keeping Wolverine, Xavier and Magneto and even amplifying them.
