Barkley taking shots @ Hakeem/Rockets for "Tainted Titles" during Jordan's retirement

That's another thing. I recall Jordan saying he "loves Charles", but would not want him on his team. Yet to this today, Barkley sucks up to Jordan like a giant tick.

 

ABC is covering the Finals. the TNT crew still makes appearances over at NBAtv though.

 

Not only did he play the guy averaged 31.5 Points 6.5 Rebounds and 4.5 Assists a game in the playoffs. They lost to the Magic cause freaking Horace Grant was destroying them and they didn't have a matchup for him. A reason they later went to get Rodman.

If that is Jordan on a downside of his career or in baseball shape. Can we get a few more players to go play baseball?

 

What Barkley meant to say was:

If Hakeem didn't play, and Jordan wasn't there and, well....maybe I could've won a ring...but I didn't because, I guess that I just wasn't good enough to lead my team to the promise land, even though I was surrounded by talent.

LMAO. First though that came to mind was tinman's head would explode. He defended Chuck so many times against fans. You know if Chuck was a clutchfans member, he'd make at least 4 threads where tinny took subliminal shots at Chuck. :grin:

 

I get what you're trying to say but just because he put up monster stats doesn't mean it was fine and dandy. Hell Tmac is one of the career ppg leaders in the playoffs and he's never been out the first round. He isn't the only one that put up monster numbers despite lack of playoff success. MJ came back in the last month of their season. You don't just pick up where you left off. Chemistry, along with other issues like the PF situation, lead to their downfall.

 

Is there anything more ridiculous than 1) listening to Charles Barkley and taking whatever he says seriously

and 2) Listening to Charles Barkley talking about who deserves championships.

 

I see the whole thing the other way around. Since hakeems teams were the only one Jordan had a loosing record against. I think all 6 Chicago champinships were tainted since they never got to play against Houston.

I was just watching the 30 for 30 with Reggie Miller over the weekend and its pretty funny that since Jordan was out every team felt that it was their best chance to win in 94. The punchline of the whole documentary is basically: Well, there was all this drama but that was in the conference semi's. So why does no one ever say: "Ewing could've won a championship he was just unfortunate to have played in Olajuwon's era?" This is all nonsense and sour grapes from a player who had just as much chance to win in that era but fell short where Olajuwon didn't.

I had an argument about the Rox this weeknd...Cowboy fan, just like I am, but she likes the Mavs...She was like, when was the last the Rockets won a championship...I said about the same time the Cowboys won one and we hype that up all the time..Plus the Mavs have ZERO!!!

Needless to say, I won! lol...

 

Personally I just stopped caring about what ESPN and TNT analysts think about the Rockets. All the analysts like Jalen Rose and Charles Barkley want the Houston titles to have an asterik by them because Jordan didnt play those two years... So this year if Miami or Dallas win, should it have an asterik by their title cause Jordan didn't play?

-All of the ESPN/TNT analysts are paid by Turner/Disney networks who have strong interest in the viewership of the large market teams. They are paid to not talk about teams/players like Houston/Hakeem and always keep the conversation/controversy centered around the Lakers/Heat/Celtics etc.

-If there is ever a team that should be complaining for not getting enough respect its the Spurs. Four titles and so called "experts" almost never mention them in the conversations among the greatest teams and players in the NBA. (NOTE: I AM A SPURS HATER)

 

In other news, Barkley claims titles tainted from '47-'84 and '99-'11.

Seriously, what the hell kind of argument has that ever been? "This one guy didn't play. Your status as world champions is invalid."
Plus, even if such a taint made sense, you can't sell anyone on the fact that Jordan's '95 season (27-7-5 reg. season, 32-7-5 playoffs) shouldn't have counted unless you are trying to use it to prove a taint. I mean, jeez...he was there!

Barkley who won 0 rings? I think that says it all. The fact he didnt win any rings pretty much sums up what he knows about what it took to win Championships. We crossed this bridge before. Get over it Bulls fans. You los to Orlando wih Jordan there. You alm,ost never beat the Rockets and so it was not guranteed you could beat us in the Finals. Since you lost to the team we swept and always lost to the Rockets whenever you played us.

 

You lost and Jordan was playing. You lost when Jordan was playing to us during most regular season meetings. It was not guranteed.
