I know its time to move on, but a post caught my eye. I tend to think of the guy as irrelevant and i generally haven't paid attention.

My question is that even if TWill is good, who would he take away minutes from?

    CLee? Bud? Dragic?

There wasn't much room in the rotation anyways.

This is ridiculous to think that the Rockets fired Adelman so T-Will could get more playing time. Adelman's not afraid to play young players considering how much playing time Aaron Brooks and Budinger played. He's also not afraid of head cases considering he's coached Artest, Bonzi Wells and Aaron Brooks.

Yeah..doesn't make sense to me either. We're a young team. Almost everyone is young in our rotation. Do we take Martin out of the rotation so Twill can play? Or perhaps play squid at PF or C...That's ridiculous.

I agree with you, but I want to add some perspective. He wasn't playing Brooks much until Morey traded Alston. He didn't play Budinger much until Morey traded Battier (although he did seem to favor Budinger). He didn't play Gerald Wallace.

The real problem though, is that Adelman refused to play non-system guys unless they were all-star caliber. Which isn't necessarily bad, but it definitely can be.

That's absolutely it. And why would Squid want to buy into Adelman's system? Squid has his OWN system!

No I'm pretty sure his philosophy was very simple: you don't play scrubs if you have better alternatives.

Adelman has always seemed to me like he's "surprised" when a young player does well. Landry first played because the Rockets had injuries in the frontcourt. He immediately tore it up. And Adelman felt he was good enough to stay in the rotation even after injury situation cleared up. Hence, Adelman could not have any idea about Landry's ability before he played, or Adelman would've played Landry earlier.

Similar case with Patterson, who was deemed not ready until once again, injuries hit and what do you know? HE WAS READY.

Adelman felt that Battier is a better starting SF than Budinger, until Morey decides to take that option away... and again, it seemed like Budinger's not too shabby either replacing Shane.

I agree that Adelman's philosophy is a simple one. The problem is that his idea of "scrubs" isn't always right.

This post is ridiculous spun inaccurately.

Adelman played Battier because Bud's inability to hit wide open 3's and defend ANYBODY. Adelman played Landry when Landry proved himself in the d-league and practice, just as any rookie in the NBA should.

Translation: The notion Adelman had a problem playing young guys is impossible to believe when you're team is among the youngest in the NBA

Landry first played in the Toronto game where Tracy let Moon dunk. The team had no fire, so Rick put in Landry. Scola, the starter, was never injured. Not sure what you're talking about here. Let's also remind everyone that Landry was a 2nd-round pick rookie playing on a team that almost finished 2nd in the Western Conference.

Refresh my memory here. Who got injured that allowed him to play, and what had Patterson done (in practice or in games) to show that he should have played before that time?

There are 30 teams in the NBA, so 29 coaches other than Adelman. What percentage of those 29 coaches do you think would choose to start Budinger over Battier? Do you think if the Rockets had traded Bud to the Grizzlies instead of Shane that Memphis would have knocked off the Spurs and taken OKC to 7 games?

Do you have anything at all to base this statement on?

This is one of those threads that I had to read twice to understand what the OP was trying to say...and still didn't really understand it.
