Do you think Mchale would have trouble connecting with star players? I ask this because championship coaches are just that, superstar players are the ones who win championships. No one can bring this franchise a championship level with the current roster.
You need a coach that is good at coaching, as far as player personal. You need a coach to remind the players that they are winners when they begin to question themselves. Your players must be confident in themselves, and know what abilities they carry so they work to get those abilities back when exhaustion kicks in and they fade. They need to be reminded they are winners. You don't need to wipe their @$$, baby your players in hopes they don't get 'mad'. Tell them to wipe their own @$$. In order to do that you need a coach that is a winner or those players will laugh at the mockery before them and be losers. McHale can relate with the doubt the players will carry through their failures, however McHale will not instill the attitude they need to have to bring home a championship. On top of that he needs to be able to actually 'out coach' the other coach he is facing To be in the finals both coaches have instilled the 'winner' mentality into their players so coaching in-game decisions and player abilities are crucial We will never win a Ship with McHale
Wait a second here, are you suggesting one of the leaders of the 80's celtics doesn't know what it takes mentally to win a title? He played for Boston, not Houston, he has more rings than our franchise, he knows how to win, what it takes, that's the least of concerns with him.
How do you know as a coach? And being a GM and coach are very different things Case in point : Larry Bird
