Except that Glen Rice and Robert Horry both played better in the Finals than Bosh has so far. Since you think only the Finals matter, that means that Shaq/Kobe had a better third player than Lebron/Wade. Now if you want to admit that it's about more than just the Finals series (even though that's what determines the FMVP award), then Bosh is certainly better than Glen Rice and Robert Horry. But then you have to look at the fact that Lebron was also better than Wade during the entire regular season (ahead of Wade in every statistical category except blocks, and more MVP votes 522-24) and during the whole postseason up to this point except for one or two games. Either way, your logic doesn't work.
You're ignoring the fact that Kobe was the "sidekick" for the entire season during each year of the three-peat. Just to refresh your memory, the MVP votes looked this way: 2000: Shaq 1207 (winner), Kobe 3 2001: Shaq 578, Kobe 11 2002: Shaq 696, Kobe 98 Now who looks more like Shaq and who looks more like Kobe this year: 2011: Lebron 522, Wade 24
if the series ended today, D-Wade would be the finals mvp FINALS MVP>REGULAR SEASON MVP if we are gonna use the "any sidekick could have won with shaq" than any sidekick could have won win MJ Kobe is a top 10 player of all time Pippen is not even in the top 25
****, I could do better than that, but off the top of my head, here are some that come to mind: Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, LeBron, Wilt, Baylor, West, Robertson, Russell, Erving Kobe is in that second tier of guys with Drexler, 'Nique, Gervin, etc. The only thing he has over them is hardware which comes from being on stacked teams. Numbers wise he is comparable and will only decline over time.
1) MJ 2) Kareem 3) Magic 4) Wilt 5) Bird 6) Russell 7) Shaq 8) Duncan 9) Kobe 10) Hakeem 7-10 could go anyway.. but i will go with those 10 right there as the 10 best ever.
he could easily (well, not easily but u know what i mean) take over games like Wade is but he can't because Wade is. LeBron did it before when he was in the finals and he's even better than he was then. The dilemma is that both of them can't take over games at the same time because taking over means developing a rythym and getting into a flow/the zone, which means dominating the ball. I guarantee you if Wade has an off game, LeBron will take over and go into beast mode
You are going to need to provide some argument if you just want to reject guys from the list. All of those guys put up better numbers than Kobe. Maybe you want to exclude LeBron because he's in the middle of his career, fine-- but there's no doubt he'll finish it well above Kobe. I can buy not liking Dr. J. as much if you don't factor in what he did in the ABA, which was sheer dominance. Kobe has had a good career marked mostly by longevity. He's never been the best player in the league (unlike each of those guys). He's a volume shooter, just like AI but a little better because he's taller. Maybe you like that type of player, fine. I prefer more well-rounded guys.
imo, any of the modern players would ****ing annihilate any of the pre-MJ players, they're a completely different breed of athlete. I understand giving props to the pioneers, but ppl give them way too much credit when comparing their actual skills to modern day.
Yeah, but that's the only way you can do it, because modern players also have access to better training, better transportation, and far more luxurious living. People bash on the 60s and 70s now because most of you guys weren't alive then. In 20 years, people will say the same thing about guys like Jordan-- "he couldn't compete with today's stars!" Trust me, Wilt could dominate any era he was in. That guy was a freak.
Wilt Russell Kareem Dream Shaq Duncan Moses Jordan Magic Bird Oscar (11) No need for a reply discrediting my picks. Let's just agree that you could very easily come up with reasons to put Kobe behind all of these guys, so to say he is just a lock as a top 10 player really isn't true. I bolded the guys who are clear locks IMO.
The chances of the Heat winning without Bosh outperforming Horry/Fisher/Rice are slim to none. I stand by my original statement.
Thats the first time I've heard that sidekick status or #1 option status was defined by MVP votes. lol google shaq kobe "#1 option" for a refresher course on haters logic
I agree completely. This is the exact same reason I think the average AP Calculus student is smarter than Isaac Newton. I mean, they're doing calculus in high school, and it took that loser until he was in his 30s!
Dwade of course so far. Lebron was playing completely selfish and stupid taking dumb fadeaway 3 pointers leading to the huge comeback by the mavs
Kobe will be a lock in 10 years, only reason he isn't at the moment is because he's still playing. Same for the other guys of the 2000 era, Duncan and Shaq.
