Your name is accurate. Perhaps you forgot that Gilbert Arenas, Rashard Lewis, Baron Davis, Elton Brand, and many other overpaid has-beens are still in the league.

I'm guessing you mean the Celtics of three years ago, because 2008 is when they won their title. While that Boston team may have been better overall than this Heat team, they were not even close to as dominant in the postseason. It took them 7 games to knock off the lowly Hawks and another seven to eliminate Lebron's Cavs in the second round. I think they finished off both the Pistons and Lakers in six games.

What are you smoking? This Miami team is only impressive because LBJ is inhuman, and even with him they have three fatal flaws (weak pg, weak c, no depth). Boston when they won the ring would have defeated them handily, and Gasol Lakers when they won their 1st ring would have beaten them as well.

Chris Bosh goes between being the most overrated and underrated player in the league. Half the time, guys are calling him a top 10 player just because they want to justify their anger over the Miami trio teaming up. The other half the time (after games like this), he's suddenly the worst player in the league.

    Ah, that's true.

I guess dominance was shown by 2001 Lakers the best

Miami is not the most dominant team in playoff history. You just want them to be.

That Boston team was killer on perimeter players. You had Perkins blocking the middle to stop penetration, and KG was roaming around harrassing everyone who steps foot on the paint. They were also two-deep and could have taken advantage of Miami's weaknesses in the C and pg department.

This thread is just mind boggling. The Heat lost 3 games before coming into the Finals. So did the Mavs. Now they are 1-1. Dead even.

That said, if the Heat pickup a decent player with the MLE and stay healthy, they could potentially run the table.

you've go to be kidding.....they're not dominant, they just make a lot of cool plays and make things look so easy at times....last two games I would hear the announcers talking them up, going on and on about how easy they made a play look or how great it was and I'd look up expecting a Heat lead and each time they were down by like 10.

Wait until they actually win the whole thing too. And they'd have to win it 4-1 now to even be considered a dominant win and I don't see that happening.

I don't think Chicago saw it happening either.

I already said I wasn't addressing whether or not that Boston team was better than this Heat team.

But you can't really argue that they were more dominant in the playoffs when their first two series went the full seven games. One of those was against a team that won 29 fewer regular season games than them and the other was against a team that finished 21 games behind them in the standings. It took them until the conference Finals to play up to their full capabilities.

The Heat easily took care of the Sixers in the first round. They followed that up by going a combined 10-2 against the other top two teams in the Eastern conference, one of those series coming without homecourt advantage. There's really no comparison.

LOL, man, Wade is such a whiner. Charles Barkley was right.

Playoff dominance is about timing as much as anything else. That 2001 Laker team had the worst regular season record during the first threepeat but they came together right at the end of the season, with everyone getting healthy and gelling. Besides the 15-1 run, they won, I believe, their last eight of the regular season. Fisher had a miraculous shooting performance and actually looked like a good NBA player during the playoffs. Kobe & Shaq were both spectacular. The way that team was playing then, I don't think any team in the expansion era could have beaten them (hard to say how they'd do against the '83 Sixers, '86 Celtics, or '87 Lakers).

Similarly, this Heat team came together at the right time and has looked dominant in the playoffs, pretty much gutting two of the best teams in the league in Boston & Chicago (not cupcakes like the Lakers got to face in '09). But let's not discount the Mavs, either, who have had a similar run. Whoever wins this Finals will be one of the better playoff teams in recent years.

Yes, they will be on top of the list if they win the next 3, but if they choke again like they did tonight, the I would say absolutely not. They had complete control of that game and this looked to be a laugher of a series along with all the other heat playoff series this season, but an epic choke now has this thing going back to Dallas at 1-1 with a bit of weakened confidence. They nearly slammed the door shut on Dallas tonight, but now we have a series on our hands.

They swept Portland, Sacramento and San Antonio then winning 4 straight against MVP Allen Iverson after losing the first.

Sacramento and San Antonio were two of the best teams of that era. Portland at that time was pretty tough as well and AI was a beast that year.

    Are you kidding me?
