I'm now reading Clash of Kings.. I'm still saddened that I may soon reach to the point that this series does not (and may not) end.
If you haven't read the books, I still wouldn't read the spoilers even after the end of the season... quite a few reference events after the initial book. A question on the book... I remember Cersei at some point plotting Robert's death in the fashion that was depicted in the last episode. Was this completely left out of the tv series, or am I misremembering? Most of what's been left out to me is fairly minor, but this I found to be more important.
If you want spoiler free discussion, these forums are pretty good, they don't allow readers to post at all in this thread allowing for unspoiled speculation: http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3204374 Pretty interesting to read what non-readers are thinking about what is going on. I definitely would advise against reading spoilers. If you can't wait get the books, they are even better than the show.
or buy/download the audiobooks, listen to them while you drive or work out or walk the dog or mow the lawn or whatever
Spoiler We havent gotten to that part yet, in the books it happens when Varys comes to talk to Ned in disguise in the dungeon after Sansa pleads for his life. Varys tells Ned about Cersei's part in Robert's death among other things.
Spoiler Crap, I should have spoilered that then. Thanks for the answer, looks like I'd forgotten the order of events.
just tempted, thats all, but it will be a long off season some of the things that cross my mind, will stannis try to take the throne from the lannisters? will ned kill little finger? will drago and jaime lannister have a duel? the guy playing sam has been brilliant
GRRM has said that he doesn't think some of the longer books like A Storm of Swords will need to be split into two seasons. And Chuck4 and I were chatting yesterday about how the A Feast for Crows and A Dance With Dragons chapters might be mixed up to form a few seasons total since the books are split up to not include major POVs.
Given that the series makes it that far. By the way, the ratings held steady again, which is pretty good considering the holiday and the early release on HBO Go: http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/06/ratings-hold-steady-despite-early-release-holiday-weekend/
By the way, what's the amount of time expiring between the first and the 4th/5th book? My memory is that it's like 2 years. As such, I am thinking if there will be a problem with the child actors aging if they only do 1 book a year.
If I remember correctly it is close to a year of in story time per book, though I don't recall it being strictly defined. Still some of the events like episode 2 where they traveled from Winterfell back to Kings Landing were supposed to take like 1-2 months time. Bran was in a coma for a month or so. Sometimes I think they don't give a great indication of the passage of time in the show. Even the prologue, the show makes it seem like they walked out the tunnel, and a few hundred yards from the wall they were attacked by the white walkers, where in the book they had been tracking those wildlings who were killed for two weeks. But book 2 is planned at this point to be covered in one season, another 10 episode season. It can be done, but book 2 is longer than book one so many fans were hoping they would extend to 12 episodes. Of course I suppose it is possible they do a 2 hour premiere or finale, but I don't recall that being something HBO has done before. Book 3 is so long that it would take massive cuts to fit it into a 10 episode seaon, and it could easily be made into two seasons itself. Plus if the show is still doing well by season 3 I think it will stick for the long run. Book 3 is the best one so far in my opinion.
They may bake it longer, I don't think the number of episodes has been announced yet. This is from Martin's blog when announced it was picked up for a second season. http://grrm.livejournal.com/211736.html Spoiler In another entry he mentioned he was writing the Battle of Blackwater for episode 9, I don't remember when that occurred in the novel but that could give us an idea of the number of episodes.
this is good to know, i have more speculations but will save them for later on one question, does tywin lannister know joffrey is jaime's son? i mean at this point in the story
this week's episode was written by George R.R. Martin himself, who has some experience in TV writing for The Twilight Zone and Beauty and the Beast http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0552333/#Writer
QUESTION: Are they doing 1 Season per book? [like True Blood] I am looking to start the books Rocket River
