Dwight Howard today shot down a report that he will sign a two-year contract extension with the Orlando Magic before the collective bargaining agreement ends on July 1. Howard made his comment as he appeared this morning at a charity event in Birmingham, Ala., to help people affected by late April's deadly tornados. Dwight Howard has been one of my least favorite players in the league from the second I started seeing/reading interviews with him. In large part, this is due to how he constantly thanks god for things so meaningless I can't imagine any god taking a hand in. However, if Morey were to sign Dwight Howard, I, too, would thank god for something completely meaningless in the greater scheme of things.

I believe his intent is not to say that God favors him and takes part in the minutiae of his everyday life, but rather is trying to remain humble, and direct the praise coming his way toward God so as to not become prideful. Pride goeth before the fall, and all that jazz.
He's doing the right thing - he's not holding out to get traded, he's holding out as leverage to get the front office to go all out to bring him a serious partner. He wants Chris Paul. If the Magic keep making dumb lateral/all-name&money-no-game moves like the Cavs did, he'll walk. But he's giving them more than a fair chance.
Jason Terry does that too. I'm not a religious person at all but if I were, I would be offended by someone implying god gives two ****s about anything NBA related. We all know god is a football fan anyway.

Sure the inside-out gameplan works wonders when your perimeter players can hit the 3 but if they can't even keep up with the opposition (much less guard them), having Dwight Howard guarding the paint was still not enough. It'll take a Chris Paul-to-Orlando for Howard to stay and that's not going to happen any time soon considering the Magic has nothing of value to trade outside of Howard. And with the new CBA reportedly calling for a lower salary cap, the Magic is screwed.
