Really? Well that's sad news. But you can never say never, right? Who then, do you think is the next great Euro player to come to the NBA?
He is defensibility overrated but he is not as bad as some are making out to be either. He can be like Calderon if he improves his shooting.
Unless we go full rebuild mode and trade away Lowry/KM/Scola, there's no way the Wolves will become better than the Rockets. You're on crack if you think Kanter, Derrick Williams or Monta Ellis is the difference between worst team in the L and us. My bold prediction for the Wolves: Kahn keeps the pick and gets either Derrick Williams (logjam with WesleY Johnson, Beasley and Randolph) or Brandon Knight (logjam with Rubio, their current pg).
Feel the same, he disappointed hard comin with so much hype after the u16 tournament. No real athleticsm, wack jumper, not really aggressive. Like you mentioned, good passing when the court is open. Think he will fall flat.
My prediction: Rubio comes over and can't get ahead of Luke Ridnour on the T-Wolves depth chart. After one year of frustration, Rubio complains that he "was Luke Ridnour back in Europe" and leaves the league forever.
*raises hand* I'll admit, I'll be disappointed in that tickets are now actually going to be worth something, especially since I'm not on the "Rubio will be any good" wagon. And to an earlier poster: Love, Randolph, and maybe Beasley are the only players on the Wolves I would want to actually receive any serious playing time, and David Kahn blows monkey chunks.
Pretty cool. I've been wanting to see him play. He'll make some highlights and his crafty passes should be fun to watch. I hope they can help him work on his shot though, so he won't be such an offensive liability who just attacks the rim. Anyways, should be fun. I think he'll be fine, he won't be as amazing as people might expect, but he'll be starting quality on a championship team, no doubt. Can't teach that kind of court-vision. The NBA-style will suit him better than Europe IMO.
Should be interesting here. Im sure he will still play this season in Madrid anyways per lockout. However, he did the right thing for himself to secure the current rookie scale pay given it is not rolled back on current contracts. Now Rubio will not set the world on fire, he is quit overrated in my opinion. However, if they do aquire Monte Ellis, Rubio/ Ellis backcourt could be very interesting in the open floor. Im not sure Kurt Rambis n co would be the best fit to coach this team. This team needs to run and gun. Rubio has been most impressive when his team is able to get out and run in the open court when he passing and decision making are everything they were sold to be when he was a lottery pick. Kevin Love, Wes Johnson, and Beasley are all good shooters too who could spread the floor and be deadly offensively. If they can aquire Ellis, watch out. This team, while they might not win alot, could be one more dangerous offensive teams in the league.
It has been known for months that his team was getting rid of him no matter what he wanted this summer because his performance on court is so awful. And no other team in Europe was going to pay him anything close to what he was making and no team in Europe was going to pay near what the Wolves would. He is easily one of the worst point guards in Euroleague. Barca has been trying to dump him for awhile now. Going to the NBA, even to sit out a year due to a lockout was probably his only option if he wanted to earn a big salary.
Haven't seen this guy play a whole lot, not a great athlete, not a great shooter, some fancy passes. I really never understood the hype. Whatever, I will just wait and see what this mythical euro can do in the NBA, I will laugh if Dragic turns out better than him.
He has the build of a prototypical soccer player in my opinion. Thats not necessarily a bad thing. The dude is quick, and is a skilled endurance athlete. However, your not going to see him posting anyone up in the NBA. Guys like Steve Nash have made it in the NBA just fine as a PG, but its unfair to compare him to Nash in any way, shape, or form. Athletically, he is just similar.
With Rubio, Beasley, Love, and possibly Ellis, the T-Wolves won't be playing a whole lot of (any, really) defense.
The Sacramento Kings measured him at 6'5(w/shoes), back during the 2009 NBA Draft workouts. I trust actual measurements more than word of mouth. http://newsok.com/nba-notebook-sour...will-be-reduced/article/3379655#ixzz1O8OWpjac
No, but they'd be at least enjoyable to watch and maybe even crack the playoffs once and awhile, I'd pull this trade right away, no matter what side I am.
