I really don't like Kevin McHale and hate this hire but this isn't the end of Rockets and I will still root for them. Hopefully at some point Les and Daryl will see the light and show McHale the door but if McHale proves me wrong and leads the Rockets to playoff success I will gladly eat my words.

Until then though I am still and will remain a Rockets fan even if zombie Joe Stalin was the coach.

Karl Malone though would be too much..

here's the truth about the NBA.

in the 2000s THREE teams have come out of the Western Conference:

if you're not LA or the Spurs basically you didn't get to do **** in the 2000s in the Western Conference (cept Dallas once whose owner spends manifold what Les is willing to spend)

in the 1980s TWO teams made it out of the Western Conference

that's what happens in the NBA. most teams are mediocre.

Rockets fans are lucky that throughout the 2000s you had excitement and a chance to go to the Finals pretty much every year with Tmac and Yao. those two also made it possible to recruit great coaches who looked forward to working with 2 of the best talents in the league

rebuilding is a long and nasty process, even a prestige franchise like the knicks are knee deep in a decade long effort. you think it's going to be different in Houston. ppl wanted Tmac and Yao out... you guys got your wish, let's see what les does with the team

So we let the coach with best winning% in franchise history go for a two year "rental"? These are the tactics that's gonna win us a championship? Wow, can't believe how bamboozled Rocket fans have become

I agree. If only the Rockets had kept Adelman, this team is primed for consecutive titles. They have lost that chance now that Adelman's gone.

No kidding. I'm sure any random Clutchfans member as GM would've turned this team into a contender by now. The Rockets front office have no clue about player scouting or development. All the players they've brought have been horrible. They also didn't retain the awesome JVG and brought in some guy who doesn't care about defense in Adelman. That move was freaking horrible.

you are preaching to the choir, we all know Mchale was brought in so we can tank and get a potential superstar in the 2012 draft

lol no I<3Stevie is my only tag, I do realize how many of you guys are going to hate, I just wanted to see how other fans really feel about this hire. Not everyone is going to agree with every move their favorite team makes, they shouldn't it would be boring.

Why bother to post anything about this franchise when you think it is hopeless?

You need a little pain to fully appreciate the pleasure when it comes. Unless you are a Cubs fan, of course.

I can't say I'm entirely pleased with the hiring, as I was hoping we'd bring in someone with a more defensive mindset. I'm a believer that with proper coaching, rotations and communication, even without a shot blocker, we can at least gain respectability on the defensive end. And that starts with a defensive mind. But I think McHale was brought here to bring out the best in our young guys by being a motivational guy that instills confidence in players through encouragement and no personal agenda. I'll be interested to see how T-Will will react, and what McHale sees in his potential. I gave up the hope last season from the minimal minutes he got, and his subpar attitude, but it's no doubt his skillset could be a huge boost for what we need at the SF position.
