Upon shaq's retirement the vote us up on espn. The choices are: 1. Kareem 2. Wilt 3. Shaq 4. Bill Russel 5. Someone else http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=6615886
Wow, I understand that Hakeem will not win it. But not even mentioned as one of the options, that is just sad.
I'm sort of not surprised for some reason, Hakeem is seen as 2nd tier center to those guys, when really he was more talented all-around than all of them. Those talking heads only seem to be a prisoner of the moment or of those old Celtic and Lakers team. They were great teams and players outside of Boston and Los Angeles. Houston also got double tapped .... where's Moses Malone at? I think Bill Russell was a great player for his time, and even winning all those championships, but I think you could replace with him any other top 8 or 10 center ever, and the outcome would be nearly the same with the type of players the Celtics. Honestly without taking championships into consideration, how is he any better than Wilt Chamberlain; Shaquille O"Neal; Hakeem Olajuwon; and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... I'll even thrown in David Robinson; Moses Malone; Patrick Ewing; and Bob Lanier.
Dream not being a choice is beyond ridiculous. Dream is a top 10 player of all-time let alone a top 5 center of all time. Just someone being ignorant.
rdp156 Shaq. Not even close. Hakeem peaked late, especially offensively; wasn't considered to be in the Ewing/Mourning/Robinson class until he won a title. User ID:http://sportsnation.espn.go.com/fans/rdp156 How does a player peak late, when he leads his team to NBA Finals in his second season?
Hey guys, who is the best shooting guard of all time? A) Clyde Drexler B) Jerry West C) Kobe Bryant D) George Gervin E) Someone Else ...WHAT DO YOU MEAN I "FORGOT" SOMEONE???
I saw this on the sportsnation polls in the link posted in OP. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/53823273@N02/5787205059/" title="ScreenHunter_01 Jun. 01, 2011 14.50 by cc952006, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2531/5787205059_676ca96846.jpg" width="389" height="500" alt="ScreenHunter_01 Jun. 01, 2011 14.50"></a> Lol, at Minnesota and co.
Wow. That's possibly the most ignorant statement I've ever read from a fan. Hakeem wasn't considered to be in the "Mourning class" until he won a ring... in Mourning's second and third years in the league?
They've had personal experience, compared to the people in Florida; Georgia; New York; Illinois; and Washington. They'd differently, if it were their teams.
Kareem is tied with Shaq? I don't know, to me, Kareem has an argument for best player of all time, let alone best center. Why do people automatically assume Wilt and Russell are the best?
