The optimist in me still wants to believe T-Will is salvageable. Maybe he'll do well under the coaching change. He has so much potential it'd just be sad to see it waste like that.

Hopefully he's putting up a thousand 3-balls a day right now.

So does this mean McHale is already speaking with the players? I wonder who else he's talked with.

Williams has phenomenal talent that will go to waste, unless he learns how to play team basketball. As of now, it is more suitable to street ball than organized bb.

Hint to Williams: this game is not about me, it is about the team, so don't pout when things do go your way. Just make it work.

If Terrence Williams gets significant playing time this year, that will knock off about 10 games from the win total I'm projecting.

That could be part of the "plan." Was that worth a future first round pick? I find it all incredibly hard to believe, just as I find so much that has happened over the course of this season, and since the season's end, incredibly hard to believe. I'm not sure many realize what we witnessed this season... an offense that was a thing of beauty. The most impressive Rockets offense I've seen since the days of Olajuwon and Rudy T. Produced by a gang of role payers under the direction of a coach many here are calling "an old man" stumbling along in a daze, ready to be put out to pasture.

Yeah, this has all been incredible, and not in a good way.

My goodness, you make it sound like the team was on the verge of something.

I guess the Golden State Warriors of a couple years ago were the best team you've ever seen too? You know what I saw this season? A lotto team with no defensive identity with lack of late game discipline that couldn't close games.

They need to rebuild or become the worse thing to be in the NBA, a winning lotto team. There are no rewards for "almost there".

I get what you're saying but as of right now, we're the best of the worst, and the worst of the best. To the fans, this is unacceptable. There needed to be change. We've only been past the first round, one time since the Yao Era. We had to shake something up. Unless you were content with the same **** for the next few years.

    Release the ****ing Kraken.

In all seriousness though, Williams is not a bad player. Everything about his persona and game from college screams hardworker and legit basketball player, not just great athlete. Is he a guy that doesn't act appropriately when he isn't getting to play enough, obviously, but the perspective of not being able to play at all and a clean slate can do wonders.

I would rather have a guy who wanted to play more and sometimes play too passionately than a slug like Hill. The guy isn't a bust, but his attitude needs to change. Those are two massively different things. And now he gets that clean slate with a coach who much more open to the idea of bringing along a player than Adelman ever was. And don't start flaming about how Patterson and Budinger were given a chance...both of those guys have completely different personalities and situations from Williams. Adelman acted sour about trades during the year and treated players accordingly....even Lee went through a mini-doghouse session with Adelman.

I'm not saying he is going to get it together. I'm just saying a lot of people are foolish for acting like they know he won't.

Are you seriously comparing GSW's offense to ours?

Why wouldn't you? They've had similar ORtg as us for the last few years.

So you mean we are only gonna win 50 games if Williams plays?

He was going to get his shot this year, no matter who we hired.

I just hope something clicks and he "gets it". He's a great passer, but he has to learn to do things within the offense. I don't think he'll become a "chucker", necessarily, but he can't stop the ball to try to make plays like he did in his short stints before.

He might even put up solid numbers, but like Durvasa said, our win total will go down if he does not play within the team. He has to understand that and not feel like he has to run the team.

Or we could just take that option away by making him a PG. He likes the ball in his hands and is great at penetrating/finding the open man. The problem is, as a wing player, he'll do anything to get the ball and reset the play so that he can take his man on top. If he's the PG, he'll have the ball from the start and perhaps won't be so eager to abandon plays to show off his skills.

I've not seen anybody question Rick's coaching ability with regard to his age.

Questioning whether it was prudent to rebuild a team with a term-limited coach, yes.

    Questioning his coaching talent, no.

I agree with this. I know he's athletic, but I would want him playing in the backcourt given our current lineup since our frontcourt is already undersized at PF and C. If he could learn to play PG though, his size would make him an immediate mismatch for almost any opposing PG and would give other teams matchup problems.
