I actually heard Lebron didn't like his style, so he didn't listen and just ran his own stuff. CLE let him do whatever because they were so intent on doing whatever it took to keep him in CLE.
Actually, Kobe had a pretty decent season, that year, while the Lakers mostly suffered from Post Shaq-matic trauma. I'd say it was an average Kobe year at worst. Also, the Lakers were actually in contention at 24-19 until Rudy T had the step away for health reasons. It also didn't help that Caron Butler only played 64 games and the team was overall depleted in talent. That team was also ranked 27th in defense, for the most part their lack of success went beyond the lack of a triangle offense. Besides, I do not even think that is the best offense for Kobe.
As stupid as Mike Brown is. You can't expect him to coach what he doesn't know. It'd be like me running out there and coaching the triangle offense. Me: "Uh, Kobe. Go do some triangle **** and hit the three."

LOL The Mike Brown putrid Cavs offense was as statistically good as the absurdly talented Heat offense. What kind of offense should Mike Brown have run in the past? Less LeBron, more Mo Williams?
That speaks to LeBron (and Wade), not the quality of the offense. Both teams have been running kindergarten level iso ball. Put non-elite players in that scheme and you'll score 70-80 points a night. If the Rockets ran that junk last year they'd score about 20 to 25 less a game.
Cavs had the 6th best offense in 2010 and 4th best in 2009. Given the offensive talent on those squads what scheme would have produced better results? People only recall their playoff series against that insane Celtics D and forget that the brilliant Lakers triangle had just as much difficulty scoring as the Cavs.
He did not have his own offense in Cleveland. As Angkor Wat pointed out, LeBron called his own plays half the time. When LeBron was not calling the plays, the Cavs used sets from the "early" offense. It was designed by assistant coach Kuester and not Brown. Danny Ferry had been pushing Kuester to be the offensive coordinator. Why waste my time with LeBron with I have a gaggle of brilliant Rockets fans at my disposal? Who didn't get shutdown by the Celtics? Is every coach whose team struggled against the best defense in the league inept at offense?
^^This Heard Mike Brown on the Dan Patrick show. He says they will probably run the Spurs offense through big guys. Makes sense. Mike Brown is a former Spurs coach. Lakers have Gasol/Bynum. This will be the new offense style. I could see Kobe settling for more jumpers.
Kuester was the offensive coordinator from 2008-2010. He called the plays and designed the "early" offense system that was used from fall 2008-spring 2010. Brown's "offense" was from 2005-2008. The difference was night and day after the change. They went from 20th in 2008 with Brown's offense to 4th best in 2009 under Kuester's "early offense. As for the Lakers, they don't even plan to use the Cav's 2008-09 "early" offense as originally thought.
