Its like the word of the day is effecient once again. That's cool, but itsmore about shot making in this league, especially the playoffs. I like guys who get to the line, but as long as a player scores at a good clip, that doesn't me. If one thing the playoffs have shown and always prove out is players can't count on free throws to be effective. Player have to make shots under pressure against good defcense to be effective. I beleieve jefferson can do that. Just as randolph scored at a high clip without free throws, I think jefferson can do the same thing. Jefferson is a better player than scola. Getting al doesn't eliminate the rockets frm the howard either unless you don't think they could co exist on the court together. The rocket could trade for jefferson nd still have enough money to attempt to lure howard at seasons end. Its just a matter of whether orlando take the bynum bait.

This would be a fantastic move. I'd love to see Hayes alongside Jefferson. That would be an exciting team, and take some pressure off Martin. With Patterson backing up Hayes, and if Thabeet worked out as a defensive backup, the frontcourt would be in great shape. That makes Scola and Hill expendable.

Let's dismiss any idea of Al Jefferson on the Rockets.

He's kind of a Carlos Boozer-ish presence for a team. Very talented offensively, but a sieve on defense. He gets paid a lot of money to often become a cheerleader, when the coach can't afford to keep him on the floor. I think because he torched Yao's Rockets more than a few times, we tend to overvalue him. Neither Scola nor Yao were gonna show on defense against the guy: Scola because "defense" just does not compute, and Yao because, well, if anyone is less mobile than Al Jefferson, it's Yao (meaning, when Yao was on the court).

We're already accustomed to watching the other team have a layup drill all game against the Rockets. Why make it worse?

Let me dismiss this idea of Al Jefferson not on the Rockets

Regardless of how bad is D is, he is 10x better then Scola (my left hand plays 100x better D)
But now you have Pat and Hayes to play good to elite defense at the 4 spot.

If you think that Hayes at the 5 and Scola at the 4 is the same (defensively) has Jefferson at the 5 and Pat and Hayes at the 4, I don“t know what to tell you.

And another thing, Big Al, Nene or Okafor, which are centers??? (all of them)

    One thing is for certain...

    4. Chuck Hayes
    5. Al Jefferson

    Is a HUGE defensive upgrade.

With Patsquatch coming off the bench, it could be really, really nice.

    1. Kyle Lowry
    2. Kevin Martin
    3. (Thaddeus Young/Danny Granger/Jan Vesely)
    4. Chuck Hayes/Patrick Patterson
    5. Al Jefferson/Samuel Dalembert

Not sure he is worth the money, specifically with Patterson/Hill there ready to grow.

Our offense has been excellent. We would add a ton of money to improve slightly offensively. If we were gonna spend that kinda money, I'd do it on a guy like Iguodala who would be a huge upgrade both offensively and defensively.

Thing is, will it take the same thing to trade for Iggy, in comparison to Big Al, because there is no doubt we need a player like Iggy at the 3 position to compliment KM.

Another thing is, it is easier to get a 2 way SF player(draft/trade/FA), then an above average Center nowadays, unfortunately.

As for the salary, I understand if you look at the numbers in a vacuum, thing is, in this league, Centers GET PAID, just look at Kaman or Okafor, wait until DeAndre in this of season. Centers are overpaid baaaaaaaaaaad (or PF that can play Center effectively).

    NIKE -
I stand corrected. Hoopshype lists Jefferson as a PF. But 82Games says he played 68% of his minutes oncourt as Utah's C. (36% C vs 25% PF @ MINN 2009). Guess the NBA has changed. Jeffferson would clearly owe more of his game to a Barkley-type than an Olajuwan-type IMHO.

Then again, based upon who would need to be involved in this trade, neither of us appears excited of the prospect.

If it was Scola straight up, a big maybe. (Assuming Patterson can start at PF and Jefferson at C). But giving up too much young talent for this deal would IMO not be a good idea.

no he's not a center. yes his defense is better than Scola's (not saying a whole lot there). And yes he can create his own offense. In fact, Chuck Hayes says he's the toughest power forward in the league to defend. I would love to have him on our team. The question is, why would Utah want to trade him for a guy 3 or 4 years older in Scola?

Scola is better and cheaper than Al Jefferson. I say this about Scola because he makes his team better on and off the court and has comparable stats. All the comparisons to Zach Randolph are spot on with Big Al as far as his impact on the floor.

Miami was the only team in the conference finals without a defense first post player unless you count Haslem as that guy and you can see how much better Miami is when Haslem is playing well.

We don't need expensive post players that can't play defense. We need big mean guys that protect the rim.

    Scola
    Martin
    Lowry
    Bud
    Lee
    PPat

This is enough scoring except we don't really have a closer but I hope nobody is saying that Big Al could be our closer.

We will not beat the Thunder over the next 10 years with weak rim protection.

Al Jefferson is injury prone and plays zero defense.

In the Euroleague, you get cut if you don't play defense, no matter who you are.

In the Euroleague, all players are required to wear ankle weights, to avoid jumping too high and running too fast.
