no we're not. i really wish Houstonians would stop regurgitating that mens health tripe... it is literally the first thing people from other cities say when Houston get's brought up in conversation. it doesn't do us any favors by perpetuating that fallacy. http://www.forbes.com/2007/11/14/health-obesity-cities-forbeslife-cx_rr_1114obese.html
This is a retread of an earlier thread, from a 2010 Travel and Leisure article. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=196373 http://www.travelandleisure.com/americas-favorite-cities/2010/category/local-specialties/hamburgers
I finally tried a 5 Guys that opened in LA. Was a but disappointed after all the hype on this board. It was a good burger but when you take price into consideration, In n Out wins easily. The fries sucked. But In n Out fries aren't always great either. Overall pretty good burger but not better than In n Out.
Used to love Fuddruckers but they've fallen off a cliff. Love the Kobe Burger at Perry's Grill and Pappas burger. Low Price: Glad they finally have a few Steak n Shake's in Houston. Whataburger and 5 Guys round out the rest.
In a related note, local burger establishments are keeping an eye out for this guy. Spoiler And, do not give this man any credit. Spoiler
Anyone see any indication as to how they determined Houston as the best city for burgers? Did the writer make some subjective decision based on his burger-eating experience? Did he make up a complicated algorthym to determine the best using easily-measured but questionably-related statistics? Is this the result of an unscientific poll? Did Houston City Hall pay the biggest bribe? I'm trying to figure out in which way this article is idiotic.
I tried Steak N Shake when I was in Dallas. Was not impressed. Also Smashburger >>>> Five Guys. Miller's in Houston = Devilishly good burger, thick ass bacon and sloppy as all get out. Great stuff. Anybody tried Little Bigs down in Montrose? Bon Appetit listed them as one of the Top 10 new Burger joints in America. I am curious to try it, Bryan Caswell (Reef, Iron Chef) is behind it.
