tips on how to raise your kids: beat them at home let teachers beat them at school allow your neighbors to beat them if you're not around no BET
I used to get hit on the hand with a ruler for not doing homework in kindergarten and first grade. This was in Dubai. Happy I moved here when I was in second grade
Type of beatings I received in India over 25 years ago: 1. Ruler on open face palm 2. Ruler on back of palm 3. Edge of ruler on on closed fisted knuckles! 4. Make you bend over and hit you with a gigantic ruler or broom stick on the backside of the knee. fun times.
meh. i was epecting something like this: <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1BN3921owBQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> my 2nd grade teacher used to do the ruler to the hand thing all the time. yeah we cried and yeah it hurt like heck but we behaved and studied after that. Junior High School, the VP would paddle us if we misbehaved. He was like a 6'4 200 lb black guy. yes, this was in Houston, Texas USA. kids are spoiled and need boundaries of some sort although i don't agree with striking the head.
Thats not the point. This thread is about the barbaric nature of the beating of school children and the "graphic" content in the video posted. My point was that it happens in America as well, not just 3rd world countries. It doesnt matter what the student does, the fact of the matter is that punishment is dished out in a physical manner.
I don’t deny that similar (if not worse) forms of physical punishment occur in America. I just found it odd that the children in the video were being physically punished for homework-related reasons.
i wish the teachers had beaten me as they did the other kids. Wanting to attend the same school as the stewards' children, i was the only whit kid in my African primary school. Whenever i'd mess up, the teacher would declare in front of the class "i go beat you less because you are white". All that achieved was retaliation by my classmates during recess to the chants of "Oyibo pepe. If e eat-e pepe, you go yellow more more"
I like how the letters corresponds to school grades. You get A's in school, you "only" get the A paddle the times you need discipline. If you get D's in school, lord MERCY you're in for it. F, you're probably STILL hurting from that one.
