Nice of Sam Amick to call Martin and clarify sarcastic seeming text message. My mistake, I guess Martin is really very excited!!!! YEAH!!!!!

You know what, Kevin McHale may actually result in Kevin Love wanting to come to Houston. It would be good for them to have at least one All Star free agent who actually want to come to the Rockets after failing to get Melo and Bosh interested.

Agreed. In general, I like this change. I think a lot of people will have their preconceived notions about McHale smashed pretty soon here.

Easily the next two. The 2012 NBA Draft is supposed to be the bomb so this looks to be a move that will at least get them in the high pick area of the lotto pool. Can't wait to see how DM and Uncle Les spin and sell this to red koolaid fanboys.

Any ways this my last post on this in this thread since this is the McHale thread.

People may say it is a assumption, I merely say prediction. Because Martin took little shots at the Kings before and after he left too.

And obviously Martin wouldn't ADMIT it to being sarcasm. But meh, others thought it was sarcasm too...who does that any ways? Say something sarcastic then say 'Yeah, that was sarcasm.'? I don't put much stock in what players/coaches/GMs say to the media any ways, it is usually not what they really feel.

Ick. The basis of the decision seems to be that he gave a great interview, was a good player, has a 'feel for the game', whatever that means, and that he's charming. Hopefully some more information comes out in regards to why this hire was made because at first glance, that's some pretty weak reasoning.

Uh . . . yeah, I'm going to go ahead and take the word of Sam Amick (who knows Kevin Martin better than any of us and was the person who Kevin texted those comments to in the first place) over your speculation.

    Thanks for playing.

McHale does have good leadership quality. That's important for a rebuilding team like the Rockets. I do think that we need to get him some good assistants, especially a good defense specialist.

Welcome to Houston and good luck, coach McHale.

Yeah that's fine. It doesn't hurt my feelings that you disagree with me or anything so I'm not really sure what the point of this post is.

You're telling me if you said "I work for the best boss ever!" then someone asked you "Was that sarcasm?"
    Your options.
"Yes, that was sarcasm." or "No, that was not sarcasm." If you wanted to maintain a good working relationship with your employer what would you say?

Again if I thought it was sarcasm. I thought it was sarcasm. All anyone has to go on is text any way. I just stated why I thought so.

If that was sarcasm by Martin, he would never openly admitted to anyone...

i think it was definitely sarcasm, but not necessarily negative sarcasm the way some people are interpreting it. "i can finally sleep at night" saying that he is glad they finally made a decision, but not necessarily making a statement of approval or disapproval. i think the sarcasm was more directed at the speculation and finally its over. he has a job to do and it doesnt matter who the coach is, so why should he really care?? i think that' s where the sarcasm is.

i'm sure k-mart and k-mac will get along just fine.

as far as the "help build a championship contender" ... i dont think that was sarcasm. just a generic compliment to a hall of fame player being his new coach. if he would say "i cant wait to win my championship ring next season" then that would be more sarcastic against the coach. even then, it could still be a tongue-in-cheek compliment. kevin mchale is a funny guy too, and i think these two know a little bit about each other. i dont see any problems here. some people just love to make up drama over nothing.

They should hire Jeff Van Gundy back...not McHale who hasn't proven anything. I DON'T EVEN KNOW if he can coach!! His coaching records are horrible. I predict this marriage won't last long and is a waste of time. Out of all the coaches out there, you have to pick this guy?? JESUS!!
