Won't know until we see the full coaching staff. I agree with those saying he's head coach for figurehead/name recognition purposes only.

If Morey fills out the staff with no-name whiz kids and teaching/developmental types, I'll be extremely happy.

I'm happy we have someone familiar with drafting in the lottery....We're gonna need him experience for the next 3 or 4 years

I don't see the unwarranted hate for the guy. Of course, he had a subpar record as the INTERIM coach of the Timberwolves, but can you really win with the ****ty Wolves? Not to mention, stepping in mid-season is never an easy task if you did not have an off season to work with.

I don't think he is much of an X-O guy, but I think he will be able to immediately gain the respect of the players and be able to get the best out of them. We just need some good assistants that know some X and Os

Idle thought: if next season is cancelled for the lockout, do we automatically draft at #14 again?

Most people who are old enough to have watched him as a player hate him. Myself included...

Unhappy, because there were better options on the table.

Wow, I have no idea. You mean if the entire season is cancelled, right? That's never happened before, not that I can recall. Interesting question. Would they just cancel that draft entirely? They would have to, if there still wasn't an agreement next summer. Maybe you should start a thread.

Yeah, that's the way I feel about the guy. He was one hell of a player, though. I just can't imagine him "coaching" the Rockets. Like I said somewhere, we've entered Bizarro World.

It's like UH bringing in Lorenzo Charles as basketball coach. Or the Texans bringing in Frank Reich. It just doesn't feel right.

It's funny most responding have an issue with the hiring yet the poll seems to show over 50% are happy. It's as if the people that aren't happy have to give reasons why to the majority.

Golly. Using that logic, it means the "majority" can't defend their position. Needless to say, I disagree with your "logic," with all due respect.

I don't understand this but on a much more interesting note - I think we should just hijack this thread and vote on whether Yao4REAL's sig, posted below, is in fact the worst ever. I genuinely think it might be. I mean obviously the nicknames are just piss poor in quality and the "lol @ Heat" part is completely random and inexplicable, but the simple fact that he gives no reasoning for giving the players nicknames that are based on food items is just....

....I don't know maybe I'm the only one.

    Meh.

I'd be much more excited about a Rockets' legacy. I hate the Celtics. Respect them, but hate them. It's almost like John Stockton just became our coach. (Almost, but not quite.) Oh well, at least it wasn't Jerry Sichting or M.L. Carr.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now though.

Also... If we are tanking, let's get some good assets for our established players, give the youngsters minutes, and play hard.

I don't want to tank by being lazy and sloppy.
