At that level and especially in the air force it is more similar to management in a large corporation than military. unlikely he was making life or death decisions under fire.

It would have been interesting to see the verdict if he didn't get the 2nd gun. I am also curious as to how many shots he fired out of the first gun. The article states that he 'fired' at the two robbers hitting one in the head, but doesn't say how many shots he fired from the first gun. If he only fired one bullet, did he only have one bullet in the gun?

I'd say it is safe to assume he emptied the clip of the first gun, no matter how many bullets were in it.

And if he didn't, then it looks really bad... like was going to go get his weapon of choice...

Surprising, considering we've been involved in major military conflicts for every decade since WWII. Then again, how sharp could he have been considering this was the best employment he could secure?

I thought of that case too, but the circumstances are pretty different.

I know, i guess i forgot to say horn shot two guys who were no danger to him and this guy shot a guy who was, although obviously the mitigating factor is the overkill.

a couple of thoughts, i can definitely see convicting him of first degree murder, he definitely at some point said I want this guy and dead and took action.

on the other hand the law gives us the right to protect overselves and at what point can the law say you've gone from protecting to murdering.

shooting someone on the ground five times after they've been wounded is akin to torture. visually picture that in your head. the loud gun shots bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

This guy is a hero god bless him. I would do the same except I would shoot once and then beat him mercifully with my fist.

You should probably seek psychiatric help for your bloodlust, then.

I see your points as thoughtful and reasonable.

I don't think you are thinking about it from his perspective. Once shots are fired your fight/slight response is going nuts. The amount of adrenaline in his system is likely the highest he has ever experienced. Impossible for those to drop off in 45 seconds. These are the reasons I would need to have more info on the timeline and his actions/body language.

the Jor Horn case for instance was "I am going to go shoot them". That guy did NOT seem scared or overcome with fear/instinct.

So you want to kill my infirm grandmother? You want to kill my neighbor with cerebral palsy?

    Nice.

Yes, everybody needs to contribute to society, like selling hairgel, for example.

What if they are kids like you pushed to extreme circumstances? IE, their mom gets in a wreck, requires lots of surgery, $40k+ in hospital bills to pay... and they rob a pharmacy to ease up on the bills. Everyone has their story and a right to be broken down and rebuilt by the system.
