I'm cool with it. I wanted mchale to get the job once the narrowed the search. I think his experience as a gm will be very helpful along with his work with big guys. I don't think this means tank, I just think this mean the rockets are now in reality. At least now we can move forward and try to build a contender with 2 way players. I will always be here for the rockets through thick and the very thin.

It really wasn't supposed to be racial, it was a serious question, which I thank you for answering. I'm caucasian btw.

This would be the best case scenario at this point. Finch and Joerger grooming our youngest players and vying for the future head coaching job. McHale being the figure piece and emotional leader... I guess we'll see.

That goes without saying. At least it should. I disagree with you about tanking, picking McHale, and that we need him to "develop" our big guys (the Rocks have been developing big men just fine for the last few decades, as you know, when given something to work with, at any rate), but I agree with you about nearly everything else. ;-)-

kelly dwyer thinks its a great fit, and i have to agree with him. mchale will do exactly what is asked of him, no more, no less. with great assistant coaches, the Xs and Os will be covered, and with the world's foremost expert on athletic talent, Sir Daryl Morey Esq., he will have the personnel (give it time, the offseason hasn't even begun yet) and the basketball aid necessary for him to focus solely on developing young big men, forming a team chemistry, and serving as the emotional leader and figurehead of this team. he respects his players, his players respect him, and last but not least, POTENTIAL players, ala possible trade targets, already respect him immensely.

i'm a moreyite, and i'm not afraid to admit it, but i also like to think my views incorporate some semblance of reason and factual information. good hire.

    Sportsguy33: On McHale/Houston:

1)Minny guys loved playing for him (ask @kevinlove)
    2) C's were hiring him in 2010 if Doc left
    3) Great with young bigs

PS: I really liked the move. Only concern is old0school McHale coaching a team that relies so heavily on new-school stats. Will he use them?

Hopefull McHale can offer a contract to someone like Dwight Howard under the table so Morey doesn't get in trouble.

Blahhhhhh!!!! No offense to you, but I'm really tired of that saying. Morey has made some nice deals, worked well given losing two stars and has created some cap space. BUT, right now the Rockets are the Oakland A's of the NBA, he has much to prove, in that does his version of moneyball win championships?

Sidenote: if it was true as reported, Morey telling Bosh that Miami would be a 40'ish winning team, it makes him look foolish IMO.

    1. I now feel better that's an organization all teams should mimic.
    2. I doubt it, maybe as a consultant.
    3. Dawson has done a more than stellar job with that. But not even Dawson is a miracle worker, the players have to have a desire to be unbeeetable.

At least you didn't list that he will be able to recruit stars.

"I don't know if I'll ever play with a coach who had (that) kind of combination of communication and motivational skills," former Timberwolves forward Mark Madsen said to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "Kevin McHale was off the charts."

I love this quote considering Madsen played for Phil Jackson, Dwayne Casey and Mike Montgomery (Stanford)!
