White rice is bad for you?
Apples and bananas are bad for you?

What happen to an apple a day keeps the doctor away?

Over two billion people eat white rice every day and I don't see a ton of fat people over there. Sugar is what your body runs on, but carbs are bad for you?

It's not that something is "bad" for you, but rather it isn't "best" for you.

White rice isn't as healthy for you as say, parboiled brown rice.

What? Bananas are bad for you? They're a superfood.

I changed my eating habits about two weeks ago. I eat tons of (brown) rice now with lean protein and love it. I also eat lots of fruit, mostly bananas. I've lost over 12 lbs.

Sometimes you need to step back, see the forest, and take all of that info out there with a grain of salt.

If you eat the white rice with vegetables, sauce and a protein, their is no difference between it and brown rice on blood sugar levels.

Brown rice is gross. Bananas are high in sugar.

    Simple as that.

I have Uncle Ben's Whole Grain Brown Rice for lunch (1 cup) everyday and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in. Of course, I'm still doing P90x, too.

Agreed. I think a lot of the "modern" nutritional facts try to balance out what is generally a unhealthy American diet. People that actually eat brown rice, whole grains, lean protein, ect. on a daily basis are generally health nuts or trainers. Most people have to try to fit that stuff in to balance out the burger at lunch and so forth. My parents are healthy and eat a lot of white rice. I tried to make them switch to brown and they couldn't take it. I think portion control and limiting junk food is a more realistic approach to health then switch all the way to certain foods.

White rice is processed, IIRC. Processing removes the fiber which would have kept balance in your blood sugar.

Echoing earlier statements, white rice is not as healthy as brown rice but its not straight up 'bad' for you. A lot of B vitamins are in bran, the component of brown rice that makes it brown; thus it is 'healthier' than white rice. But white rice with a balanced diet is fine.

Your Asian person/anti-obesity idea has little merit because that is mediated by socioeconomic factors more than the quality of the food. I.e. very few of those '2 billion' people can afford to eat to excess. An obvious correlation/causation mix-up. There are fat asians, they're the richer ones who can afford to eat more.

Apple are healthy but for a fruit/vegetable are very high in sugar. It is what is it is. Eating a head of iceberg lettuce is like drinking 2 cups of water and taking a multi-vitamin and fiber tablet all at once, but who in the hell is going to do that?

So I can eat moon pies, pop tarts, and drink beer for every meal and I'll be fine as long as I burn more calories than I ingest?

There was a guy who ate only Twinkies 3 times a day and took a multivitamin and lost weight; He just watched his Calories in/out. I think there was an article on digg or yahoo front page about it.

I think the calorie in/out is really that simple; you can eat pretty much anything if you watch how much you eat.

Not more than you eat because eventually you would die of starvation.

To answer your silly question with a silly answer: If you maintained a healthy body weight (skinny) had low triglycerides and cholesterol (which you probably would with a low calorie diet) you would be better off than 70% of americans.

calories in/out is an overly simplistic way too look at it and at the end of the day if you burn more than you eat you will lose weight. However, that doesnt mean you are being healthy.
