I like Singleton (next Pippen), Faried (next Rodman..on the court), Vesely (poor man's Dirk)..haven't read much about him but Tobias Harris is getting good praise. The rest I'd pass on.
Weakest draft in a long time. Jordan Hamilton would be a nice spark off the bench. He can come in and hit a few 3s. I'd like Tristan Thompson for depth at PF if he's still available.
I think Reggie Jackson at #23 is who we should go for to replace Dragic in free agency or too use Dragic in a trade deadline move. He's got heavy Russell Westbrook comparison but is further along in the learning curve than Westbrook was heading into the draft.
Vesely was top 3 in mocks last year before it was learned by NBA teams that he had a long-term contract with Partizan.
I don't know why there's all this hate on Jimmer... I just read an article on ESPN.com about how he was acutally a better athlete than pretty much every guy on that list PLUS he can score... more than just a shooter
Dream on. Singleton is not even close to Pippen. He can't handle or create. He's not a good offensive player. Faried will probably be pretty good. He's got a big time motor. I like him. But don't see the Rodman comparison. Vesely.....looks to me like a finisher and defensive helper, possibly a better Kirilenko but don't think he'll ever even sniff 20 ppg much less Dirk numbers. (And I like Vesely.) Tobias Harris is a cross between Boris Diaw and Grant Hill. He does play under control which is very good. And he is highly intelligent. He makes the right plays. He's got a handle. There's a lot to like there. He'll be effective. Not sure he'll be All-Star capable or anything like that.
Why? Because he was the best offensive player in the NCAA last year. At the bare minimum he is one of the best pure shooters in the game. His bust factor is almost nil. He will have value in the NBA. Thats the one player in this draft you can say that about for sure. You might hate him personally, but more than likely he has done nothing to earn the devastation from Rockets fans if he is selected. Whether you like him or not, I can guarentee you the Rockets front office sees value in Jimmer. You have to assume he is on their list of potentials. I personally dont think he will be on the board, but if Phoenix or Utah fall in love with someone else, then he could very well drop to 14. I personally am not advocating him for the 14th pick, but dont be surprised if he ends up being a Rocket if he drops to 14 because of the Rockets need to add security to the backup PG spot for the future.
I do not hate prospects. I do look at what tools they have and what the Rockets need. The Rockets have no need for Fredette's particular skill set because we have Martin, Lee and Bud. Martin and Bud can put up numbers without much defense -- we don't need another player who is utterly defenseless. Adam Morrison is much the same player, except that he is 6-8 rather than just 6-2. He couldn't play defense either, and look where is is today. We need a center and another SF to compete with Bud. Jimmer is neither. BTW, unless they trade Lowry or Dragic, the Rockets don't need a PG. In fact, I would bet "clutch money" they will extend Dragic if they don't absolutely, positively have to include him in a trade.
People shouldn't hate the Rockets for picking him at 14, that's alright. People just generally hate the stereotypical overrated white guy who literally 90%+ of the time ends up being Kyle Korver or worse but gets drafted high in the lottery.
Why do so many mock drafts have us drafting a Morris? Patterson has more potential and is fighting for the minutes he's getting, doesn't make much sense going to for another PF that cant play the five.
Hmmmm.. have you seen Marcus Morris play? probably not... outside shooting goes to morris rebounding goes to morris offensive skills goes to morris defensive help goes to patterson Scoring around the basket goes to morris I love Patrick Patterson, and I do not think drafting Morris would affect his playing time. If there is one guy I am hoping slides to 14 , it is Marcus Morris.
I think he would be a great fit for us, IF he could show some level of restraint with his shot. He showed a lot of skill at Texas, but the dude was a flat out chucker.
Huh? I thought most NBA fans were white and Chinese. If we drafted him I would be ok with it, or if we drafted Jordan Hamilton. Either will be serviceable at worst, from I think or have seen. Maybe not all-stars, but definitely could flourish on a team where expectations aren't as high for them. Donatas Motiejunas is a good pick for 14, also. If we can for our 3rd pick of the night, I would consider Jeremy Tyler if he is still on the board, but iffy about using him for the 23rd pick. Moreover, I really want to see who we go after in Free Agency more so, who we might lose in the off season.
