http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/05/18/consensus.mock.draft/index.html Hi all, link to all the Mock Drafts and the general consensus above. Of course there is all the talk of Rockets moving up the draft, but assuming they don't, here are a list of players from the mock drafts that were predicted to go #14 to the Rockets: Marcus Morris Jordan Hamilton Chris Singleton Donatas Motiejunas Jan Vesely Markieff Morris Tobias Harris Kenneth Faried What do you all think of this list of players?
I am really not sure about Jimmer. He could be a Redick type (which would be a great pick at 14 in a draft like this) or he could be a Hoiberg type.
If I say it, we wont do it. Either that or Morey will take everyones favorite and scream it to the whole world that whatever his name may be is the Rockets favorite target. At which point some other GM drafting ahead of us will draft Moreys player. Like the rube he is.
No it worked out better when I said nothing and my favorite player Patrick Patterson fell to us and Morey surprisingly drafted him without telling anyone and everyone that is who we liked the most. So I am just not gonna mention my favorites name this time.
I was mentioning Cousins too much(along with everyone else) and his trade up efforts were too publicized and probably cost us leverage because Morey is not good in keeping things close to his vest. Thus he lost out on Cousins.
If we draft fredette I be pissed. Lets bring matt Maloney to work outs and ensure jimmer wins a one on one game to fifty by at least forty five.
Jan Vesely should be long gone....and outside of him none of these guys interest me. I really hope we make the move for Kanter.
That's the crazy thing about this draft. Last year when Vesely was expected to keep his name in the draft he would have ended up at 14 or lower from the projections. Now, the guy may go as high as 6 this year and we would have no hope for him falling all the way down to us at the exact same pick, WEAK. I agree with you though Kanter should be our prime target if we were to move up and no other.
Lol yeah but the tabulating of scores from all the drafts had Jimmer going 14th tho none of the drafts are picking us to take Jimmer lol. I was responding to that part of the linked article. The "consensus" mock draft even though it isn't a consensus at all haha.
This Mock Draft doesn't count, because the Rockets are going to draft of top 10 pick anyway ...
Jimmer Fredette is this year's Adam Morrison. I hope Terrence Williams taught Morey that you shouldn't add a player for a position that is filled (Kevin Martin) and re-filled (Courtney Lee), especially when he just doesn't fit.
Jimmer has said in draft interviews that he is considering himself, and working out to play the PG position. I have no doubt that the backup PG spot is something of concern for this team in the future with Dragic likely to get decent offers next summer, and injury considerations this next season. Even though #14 would be very high for a backup PG, Jimmer could be a very good player in the league if he improved on his deficiencies on the defensive end, and learned how to run an NBA offense. Im saying this because I dont believe you should be surprised if the Rockets take him if he is still there at 14. However, if the Rockets moved up in the draft to take him I might be scratching my forehead for days saying What the..... -However, seeing as though the Rockets staff was always spotted at almost every Kansas game this last NCAA season, Im going to take a shot and say they are high on Markieff Morris as the 14th pick. He is an excellent pick at that spot and a nice fit with the current team. He played PF in college but he has shown that his skillset will fit nicely as a SF in the NBA with good size and length. He said in interviews that he models his game after Paul Pierce and Carmelo Anthony but does some dirty work in the paint as well. He is a winner, hard worker, and I think he will surprise you at how well rounded him game is. He is a solid pick at 14 and should be a starter in the NBA, although probably not a superstar.
From what I have read from Jonathan Givony and Chad Ford, it looks like the real value in this draft are the picks between 10-40. I have never seen Kanter play so I'm on the fence with him but his true size and supposed ruggedness would be a nice addition to the rockets if they could possibly move up and get him. It wouldn't surprise me if Morey came away with a European player if he is able to move up or even staying with the 14th pick. It seems impossible in trying to figure out who Morey is going to pick or who he is targeting in the top tier of the draft.
I won't be surprised if the Rockets take Fredette. I will be dismayed, devastated, debilitated, devoid of hope...
There is no doubt Kanter has talent, size, desire - eveything we want in a center as Yao's replacement. The trouble is Kanter has Greg Oden knees -- all we need is another great center watching games from the disabled list. If we move up, I pray for Jonas Valanciunas.
