I used to have the privilege to create a new thread. Now I don't. I assume it was because the board has figured out that if you harass the mods enough, whether the transgression warranted the punishment or not, rather than deal with more reporting, the easiest way to handle the situation is take away the problem altogether. But of course when I began defending the grizzlies, which most of the time it was a thread started by someone else, when I became combative about it, I already knew that my privileges would be revoked because I've been here long enough to know how it works.
I would stack my posts about the grizzlies up to anybody's posts about the same topic, and while they were calling me an idiot and writing sarcastic remarks I was providing evidence to back up what I said. If an informed opinion can lose privileges, it just goes to prove that the mods don't care about actual discussion, but rather it's a don't-make-more-work-for-us and you'll be fine mantra. There will never be true discussion on the board because of this, because rather than actually discussing a topic the members just whine to the mods and let them handle the punishment for an opinion that they don't share. It's been this way since heypartner was reprimanded for "grandstanding" against clutch. Yeah, I've been here that long.
If you've been here that long, what, and obviously you've been here a long time, you'd know that this isn't the place to vent your frustrations, especially concerning basketball. The best avenue would have been e-mailing Clutch, but absent that, posting this in Feedback, not here in D&D, unless the Grizz have suddenly become a hot political/religious/whatever topic. In my opinion.
I think you are being overly dramatic once again and can't really comment until knowing why your thread-starting ability has been temporarily revoked. In general, I don't think the forum is regulated enough. It's been a rough morning for me and this made me LOL! Thanks.
Well, I got back my privileges which I have to commend the moderators for. They didn't have to do it, and I didn't expect them to do it, but it was really good to see that they "heard" me and are willing to make it right. Now I'll have to impose my own timeout on myself to let me clear my own head from the commotion of today. This post was meant to show that the mods do indeed have a better side than I previously wrote about.
ever considered it was a mistake? ever consider that the reason why you got them back was because it was a mistake in the first place? If you have truely been here as long as you claim, you damn well know that opposing fan's views are encouraged, not penalized. Hell, I came to your defense saying exactly that in Dish, yet you feel the need to come in here to the wrong forum and whine like a frikking baby about us bad mods without even attempting to find out what the deal was. for the record, I did not cause you to lose any privileges, nor did I do anything to cause you to regain your privileges. I just now logged in and saw this when I came in this forum.
You could be 100 percent right. I may have unfounded negative views. Though my user name start date doesn't show it, I was a lurker as far back as 1996. At that time, there was a place called the launch pad for rockets fans, which merged into clutch's site if i remember right. If I'm correct clutchfans was predated by another site, that might have been the supermario site I can't remember. But yeah I've been here probably from the beginning.
IMO this thread has ameliorated the overall civility in the D&D. We need to be good to each other -- it's the best way to work through our disagreements. Personally, I enjoyed the spirited banter and repartee, and I write this now with a little more conviction in my belief in bridge building and compromise. Ten days in the hospital -- three staring death in the face -- with failed kidneys and a heart attack tends to be an excellent reenforcer of those hopes. Intelligence and enthusiasm works wonders whereas anger accomplishes little. Be well, one and all.
There are important events that people just shouldn't miss. I hope our draft picks get to play in '11-'12.
Wow.. Glad to hear you are recovering. Was this the result of an infection or something that you've been dealing with for awhile?
Damn, that's hardcore. I would just like to wish you the best and take this opportunity to point out that I am always right and you are always wrong and therefore I am the best of all time also w/ largest genitals. Let's agree to disagree, but seriously get well as best you can. Failed kidneys is no joke.
Just getting old. Doctors were scheduled to rebuild my gut for peritoneal dialysis but I collapsed in the hospital parking lot en route to some testing they wanted. Fortunate to have great health care. Next step, after kidneys stabilize, they crack my chest and I get a sexy scar. I just hope the Rockets don't break my heart before then.
Make sure they glue the incision, its amazing how much of the scar is hard to see after using that stuff that is marketed for scar removal.(dont remember the name right off) anyway, I kinda know what you are dealing with thumbs...keep a good attitude about it and best of luck to you. I'll be pulling for ya.
