I love going to Rockets games and enjoy the experience there, but I still have to confess I was surprised by this. StadiumJourney.com gave the Toyota Center a 4.6 out of 5.0 in overall stadium experience. That's tied with a couple of arenas (San Antonio included) for second best, trailing only Orlando's Amway Center. http://www.stadiumjourney.com/stadiums/toyota-center-s109/ It's been awhile since I've been to road games so maybe some of you who have gone on road trips can chime in. Are we spoiled -- is the Toyota Center really one of the best?
Clutch, Toyota Center blows away the Spur's AT&T Center. Parking is easy, plus there's stuff to do after the game. The Spurs arena is located in the middle of nowhere and you park your car like it's a football game. Plus I experienced the suites last year and it was fantastic.
Looks like the Red Rowdies are to thank for TC getting such a high score. Fans and Atmosphere are directly attributed to Red Rowdies. There is no way our Fans are 5/5 or Atmosphere is a 5/5. Probably a 2 or a 3. And we got a 5/5 for Neighborhood because the guy likes his beer and Flying Saucer is nearby. lol Fans + Atmosphere + Neighborhood = 15 out of 15
Parking has always been easy for me due to the various $5 garages all located within reasonable distance from the arena. Fans and atmosphere obviously don't deserve 5/5. Food...maybe.
It has way more amenities than MSG and better seating. I agree though his "atmosphere" and "neighborhood" ratings are too high - the place isn't too raucous, and the neighborhood is convenient for Houston, and obviously better than say...Reliant, but is it really that great? Don't get me wrong, downtown H-town is way better than when I was a kid, but still it's kind of blargh when there's nobody there.
TC is better than or as good as the arena of Miami Heat. I also found that there were lots of empty seats even although they have a better team than us , and the time when I was there was the Christmas time.
I'm probably picky about this, because I grew up in loud bball country of Illinois; but I wouldn't rate any NBA stadium that shares the court with the NHL to ever have 5/5 seating. To me, it's equivalent to a football stadium having a track around it. The sport is meant to have seats closer to the court. Seats are artificially further away from the court when you share the stadium with the NHL. I could never give TC a 5/5 in seating. That's big reason why Kings, Jazz and Pacers have the loudest fans, because they are on top of the court.
The place is nice, but the entertainment still sucks. They need to figure out ways to get the crowds pumped besides throwing them t-shirts.
I don't have a lot of comparison points, but it's noticeably better than US Airways Center in Phoenix.
I don't know about that. I really dig the Launch Crew, and the Power Dancers put on one of the best shows among cheerleaders in sports.
The 5/5 rating for fans should be 3/5. Just because tickets sell doesn't mean we have great fans. There's a difference between being at Toyota Center for the game versus watching the game at Toyota Center. You have way too many lower bowl peeps hanging in the Lexus Lounge more than sitting in stands. Otherwise, it's not a bad assessment.
I love how all of your posts are somewhat related to the topic at hand, yet you never seem to actually add anything to the discussion. Freaking brilliant subtle humor.
Beautiful arena, terrible atmosphere. It's like a morgue in there most of the time. Total contrast to Oracle Arena in Oakland. It's an older, out of date arena but the fans get loud and crazy in there even though the Warriors are awful.
