I have trouble believing you honestly don't understand what he meant, and even more trouble with your abstinence argument.

Just because of the freak chance that a condom might break, or birth control might fail, does not mean people shouldn't have sex unless they want to/can support bringing a baby to term and raising it. That is head in the sand, pie in the sky, denial of basic human nature and the reality of life style thinking that ends up resulting in more unwanted pregnancies and abortions.

People should have the right to sex with condoms and/or birth control, which, for all intents and purposes, all but eliminate the possibility of pregnancy. Continue playing the basso role all you want, and pointing out the exception as the rule. It won't get you far though.

 

Pacquaio doesn't need to wear condoms. He can feed the entire Philippines with his 1.4 Billion pesos career money.

Wow, even the most bible toting, waiting for marriage types I know acknowledge sex is more frequently for recreation than for procreation.

If Manny Pacquiao and Bobrek think you shouldn't be having sex unless you already have a nursery all ready to go then I am o.k with them doing that in their own lives, but I don't think society needs to be held to that standard at all.

As far as governments providing condoms for those too poor to afford them, it's literally pay pennies today or pay thousands later.

+1. You can talk about idealized religious arguments all you want, but it's a huge practical issue. No matter how many holy books of whatever sort you thump, you will not keep people from having sex. About the last 32,000 years of human history show this, starting with cave paintings of vaginas and moving until we have about twice the population on Earth that it can reasonably sustain in a healthy way (estimates are we should shoot, no pun intended, for 3 billion, instead of 7 headed quickly toward 10 billion.)

As for the God argument, nothing makes me more angry than religious arguments that are oblivious to the empirical truth: "God put a brain in your head." Use it, or don't keep other people from using theirs at least.

 

Well, dude, many of us have a fallback position in case of that statistically insignificant "eventuality." And as rational adults who do not want children, we can agree: not to have children.

(Hint: it involves a minimally invasive clinical procedure. Miss Manners' etiquette suggests splitting the fee, right down the middle.)

I kept reading this thinking it was a joke but now I see it wasn't. You don't realize that many people have sex for pleasure and not to produce children, and would therefore choose to take precautions against it?

I also know that everytime I drive in a car that I could get in a wreck and die. Does that mean I shouldn't wear a seat belt and just drive as reckless as possible? Did someone have to grant me the right to wear that seatbelt?
