I watched a ton of Cavs games and Mike Brown had them play very good defense and deserves credit for that. But on offense, he was garbage. Managing timeouts, he was bad. The problem was he didn't seem to grow during his tenure and get any better at either. "Lack of creativity" is a big understatement. In strategic situations during key games, he would have guys on the floor that made you scratch your head.

Thibs is in his first year. He deserves the same slack Mike Brown got when he was first hired. If he's as pathetic on offense and strategy as Brown after 4-5 years with the Bulls, he'll get plenty of grief from everybody.

Seriously, if you don't understand the concern about Mike Brown, you didn't watch enough Cavs games.

if he can't win with a young and talented LBJ, i don't think he can do it with an aging kobe.

Stevie, is that something you've heard, or speculation? I can't imagine RA not wanting to coach next year, unless his experience with the Rocks has him feeling the need for a season off to recharge his batteries. How I hope the Lakers do this. Adelman would be a perfect fit, IMO. If they don't hire him, it helps us.

Maybe Kobe is pushing for him because he doesn't want to have to deal with a coach

That's also the same play Doug Collins ran for MJ in '87 when they got swept by the Celtics in round one. Except the 4 X's were at HALF COURT in one corner and MJ was in the other corner.

They changed the illegal defense rules after that series, where you could be one zone away rather than arm distance, or whatever it was.

That's also what the Bulls ran during crunch time last night.

Rick probably just doesn't want the hassle of coaching a guy like Kobe in his old age.

I'm hoping the Thunder sign Adelman. They would easily be my favorite team outside the Rockets.

That team would explode on offense. Durant THRIVES in a system like Adelman's.

Their defense won't be too shabby either, RA has coached great defensive team, and the Thunder team is literally built for great defense.

Though the only concern would be the ego. The team is still young, but RA will demand Westbrook to give up the ball more often, and who knows what will happen if they don't get along?

I guess Lakers are rebuilding. I thought they'd pick up Adelman or try to keep the keel even with Shaw and try to make another run. Picking "for the long-term" a young coach might mean they'll start moving toward life after Kobe.

Adelman doesn't bring the discipline and direction that team needs.

Anyone have that animated gif where it's the final seconds of a close Cavs game and they call a timeout? Then Mike Brown is pacing around while the assistant coach is in the huddle giving the team the play.

EDIT: My bad, Space City found it while I was typing, repped.

I'm also buying into the theory the Lakers want to be more defensive minded and tougher. Also Kobe wants to handle the ball 100% on offense and he knows Brown would give him more leeway than any other coach.
