I really really REALLY wanna be happy with this news but I think this would actually HELP the Lakers. Their problem this past year wasn't putting up points it was defense so Brown would definitely help in that regard.

I'm hoping for the worst but they could just hire Brian Shaw that would make me happier.

I think Brown will help improve their defense, too. He'll prove to be a much better coach than people seem to give him credit for.

However, that bench is still pretty thin IMO, and their starting PG is really showing his age. Not much a coach can do about that.

Yeah he is not as bad as everyone is making him out to be. And you are dead right about their PG dilemma. Plus Brown and Barnes will opt out, they can paid more. They will left with Ebanks and Walton.

maybe Kobe likes the "Hey you 4 guys stand around and watch LeBron" offense he used to run in cleveland.

edit: Lol space city beat me to it.

The funny part is, this is the play THEY ACTUALLY RAN the majority of the time for basically the whole 4th period in the two Cavs0Celtics series...watch the film, it's incredible.

Kobe spoke of defense and rebounding being the backbone for a championship team. Hinting that he wanted a more defensive minded coach who held guys accountable for their mistakes on the defensive end of the court.

Also, Rick might have been interested but he was unsure about wanting to coach again. I'm sure if the money was good enough, he'd be motivated to give it another year.

This sucks. I really wanted Rick to get that job for his shot at a ring.

Hopefully OKC fires Brooks and gives that job to Adelman. One can only hope.

Really don't understand the hate on Mike Brown.

A guy who has won as a assistant...who was was Popovic's protege and main assistant.

A guy who has coached a elite defensive team, who has coached his team to the finals, who has a winning record...

yet everyone thinks he's trash. Oh yeah SURE he had Lebron and sure if he didn't have lebron he would have lost more games...well duh. If Adelman didn't get to coach the good players he has he would have lost more games too. Same can be said for every coach.

Besides, Thibs gets a ton of credit and when the game matters the only thing he can draw up is ISO Derrick Rose against one of the best defenders in the NBA.
