Ha Ha, no. That just tells you how great it was that I knew what was coming and it was still incredible.
I especially enjoyed the first scene with Spoiler Lord Tywin skinning the boar during the conversation. I don't remember that being in the book, but it's been awhile since I read it. The long lesbian brothel scene seemed pretty unnecessary.
Spoiler Yea. In the book I don't think you actually meet Lord Tywin until Tyrion finds him in Harrenhal where he's preparing for battle. Nice scene that shows a bit of his personality.
This is correct. Spoiler But I have to say that the more Tywin the better. But the scene at the end in the throne room was terrific. Like I said, I knew what was about to happen and my heart was pounding. Oh! And GHOST!!! Crazy that this episode was so good with no Tyrion or Arya.
Episode 5 was awesome and episode 6 continued the streak. (Trying to hold out and not watch 7 till sunday... heard the quality of the webrip available online isnt all that great) I love how all the stories/plots are steadily reaching their climax and we are seeing events unfold rather than just finding out about them. It reminds me of reaching this part in the book and being totally engrossed in the unfolding story, to the point where i couldnt put it down. While episode 6 was great, I do have one big complaint... where the hell were the direwolves, summer and greywind???!!! I know the HBO series and the book need not be exactly the same (nor do i need them to be) but cutting out the direwolves is not a good choice IMO. Not only were the wolves a huge part of that scene, they are/were a huger part of the book. I love the wolves as much or more than any other characters and I venture to guess that alot of people felt the same way. Animals, especially dogs are such easy characters to love and empathize with (not to mention awesome) and despite the difficulties with working with them, I think the HBO/writers missed the boat on this one.
I agree. I was all for it when I heard they chose real dogs over CG wolves, but not at the choice of cutting them out. That part of the book was SO brutal. Look at True Blood; they have CG Wolves all over the place and they look pretty good. I'm all about the CG Direwolves for Season 2 & (hopefully) beyond.
****, if they are skimping out on wolves, what are they going to do with a certain other mythical creature?
They should just suck it up and get the real wolves (dogs) on the screen. Sure the dogs may not really good at the whole acting thing, but they can't be worse than Jason Momoa and we get to see him.
Spoiler These are most likely pure CGI, so I'd imagine they won't have the animal behavior problem. Besides, they don't do much except putz around for a few more seasons. Well... agree to disagree. <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/H38LiqJdzvI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Spoiler Did you watch Episode 7 already? Because I'm not sure what else you want from a guy who is a barbarian horse lord who doesn't speak the common tongue.
Late to the thread. As most of the people posting in here, I've read the books (a long time ago) and love the show. Out of curiosity, how recently have yall read the book? I ask because I've found it interesting to note the reactions of my friends whom I've gotten to watch the show. The few who haven't read the book complain how it's too slow. Granted, they haven't watched episode 6 yet. However, I also have one friend who is fresh off reading the book and fumes that the show moves too fast. I myself read the book many years ago and am happily content with the show. Do any of you have similar experiences?
Watched ep6 last night. Great episode. I loved how they did the Moon Door. Mord was funny. Bronn is a particular badass (and one of my favorite ancillary characters). His fight scene was much more fluid and far less clunky than the previous episode's. Ned laid the law smackdown on The Mountain. Pretty powerful scene. Beric Dondarion: Spoiler Isn't he supposed to be super dreamy? Who's this rather ordinary looking guy? Arya is freaking awesome. "Seven Hells!" 1: Spoiler It never occurred to me before just now, and I can't recall the pacing of the book- it's possible that Dany had something to do with the heat of the fire/melting rate. 2: Not sure on the passing of the name, but I'm think that it only applies to the father. Also, Spoiler the King can legitimize a b*stard by royal decree.
Spoiler Yes. Stannis makes that offer to Jon Snow in Storm of Swords with the offer to make him a Stark and the Lord of Winterfell
So it is his portrayal in appearance, not his acting, that bothers you? I admit, I didn't imagine the eyeliner either.
Also: Spoiler The b*stard of Bolton Was trying to keep it kind of ambiguous for some reason I don't understand since this is the 'spoiler' thread.
I would just feel awful if I spoiled anything in this series for anyone. Therefore, I continue to use the tags.
All four of GRRMs books are on the NYT paperback fiction bestseller list. He must be raking in the dough. Good for him.
