Actually the Heat do need Lebron to do all that, it what makes the Heat so good on the D side, as they have 2 way players, who are quick, and have length, defend multiple positions, which causes huge issues for teams.
Wing players are kings in the NBA, centres are not. You win by having elite wing players, and in most cases 2 of them.

People really need to understand this. The decision Lebron made was 100% correct. It was genius. The way he went about it can be criticized, but the decision itself was great. And keep in mind, that this is the worst Miami will be for the next 5-6 years. They will continue to add role players, these guys will learn to play better with Lebron and handle his crisp passes. Enjoy the ride 5-6 rings easily coming their way.

Agreed. However, if LeBron had never chosen to make his "DECISION" to take his talents to South Beach on cable television, he wouldn't have been this heavily criticized.

Personally, I like watching LeBron play and think the things he does on the court are incredibly special. He is the best player on the planet right now.

If you say so. Historically teams have won with an good/elite wing and a elite/good big man. That's how the Lakers and Spurs have won all their rings over the past decade and that is how the Heat and Celtics did it too. The Bulls are really the only team in recent history that did it differently. Bibby/Wade/Miller/Bosh/Howard is a pretty balanced team.

Everybody needs help and almost nobody wins without another superstar level player on their team. My beef is with him teaming up with another top 3 player in the league and another all star caliber player. He needed help but not that much. As much as people like to bring up Pippen he was never even a top 5 player in the league.

He wouldn't have been going into that situation knowing of how good Rose really is and they didn't have enough cap space for Lebron and Boozer so you can't count him.

I thought the decision was a classless move but it has nothing to do with why I'm against his choice. I just felt like he over did it when it came to getting the help he needed to win a ring.

you hit it right on the head. the decision was in very poor taste and he did apologize for it recently. that should have never happened.

if teams don't have hourly specials when trades or signings are made, a player definitely does not have that right/power.

but it's time for people to appreciate his talents on both ends of the floor. the guy is doing all the necessary things right now that define all-time great players: score, rebound, pass, defend, and step up in the clutch. he does all of that and does them at the highest level right now.

pippen was a top 5 player for a 2-3 year stretch in the mid-90s. he was all-nba 1st team and all-defense 1st team for a 3yr stretch. if that doesn't mean top 5 player, i don't know what is. so jordan did also have a top 5 player next to him.

he may not have another all-star like bosh, but he did have players with the same impact as his 3rd best player: horace grant and dennis rodman. you can argue horace grant had more impact as a 3rd option than bosh has had throughout the season. and we all know rodman is one of the best defenders of all time.

but no one criticized jordan for having great teammates. or no one criticized kobe for having stacked teams. or no one criticized magic and bird for playing with 3 other HOFs during their prime.

they just don't like it b/c lebron CHOSE to go play with those guys, rather than having a competent front office do it (which lebron didn't have)

Being first team all defense and/or all nba doesn't make you one of the top 5 players in the league. Wade was on neither of those lists this year and he is a top 3 player. Neither is Dirk and he is a top 5 player. The top players in the mid 90s were Jordan, Olajuwon, Barkley, Ewing, Shaq, Malone, and Robinson.

As far as Jordan goes he had some really good teams but if Jordan wasn't consistantly dominating that team wasn't winning. 9 times out of 10 Jordan is the leader scorer or they lose. They same can't be said for Lebron and the Heat. As far as Kobe and Shaq go it was those two and a bunch of role players. They never had a Bosh caliber player. As far as the Celtics and Lakers go that was a different smaller league. The Celts had 3 hall of famers but so did the Lakers and Pistons.

wade is considered that b/c a lot of players get the "reputation treatment" nowadays. real fans recognize that. we all know he should have been first team all-nba this year.

but to be 1st team on both offense and defense for 3 years generally mean you are a top 5, if not higher, player. no ifs and buts about it.

if lebron is not dominating scoring or assist, the heat usually lose 9 out of 10 times too. his teams have lost every single time he doesn't exceed 15 points in the playoffs for his career. and the heat are 0-2 this year; hell they got BLOWN OUT when lebron doesn't show up, even on the heat.

shaq's dominance = 2 all-stars. you can't really understand how dominant shaq was. the guy was putting up 30 and 15 in the playoffs during his laker years. no other player comes close to that type of production in today's era.

the celtics and lakers were in a smaller league? jordan was playing when magic/bird were dominating the league my friend. and jordan thus threatened his management to get their act together b/c he knows he needs stars to win.

the point is, if lebron james wins 3+ rings, he'll go down as a top 3 player of all time. period.

****. I'll be the happiest man ever if the Heat don't win the championship this year. Arrogant douchebag Heat fans talking like they already won it. Also thinking they'll win the next five. Would freakin love it if LeBron blows his knee and is never the same player again. THat would teach these idiots to stop being so arrogant.

So which three of the seven players that I named is Pippen better than. Olajuwon? Jordan? Robinson? Ewing? Barkley? Malone? Shaq?

Ask yourself this. Out of all the great players on the other teams how many of them could you get to the finals with if one of them was your best player? Pippen? Gasol? Mchale? Parrish? Old Kareem? James Worthy? My guess is none. None of those players are even top 5 all time at their position However, I know a team can get to and win the finals if Wade was your best player because he has done it before. Lebron put himself on a team where he doesn't have to be great because there is another player on that team that has proven he can carry a team to a ring.

I'll kinda give this point to you. Kobe wasn't an all time great until he got rid of Shaq. I didn't even like Kobe before he kicked Shaq off the team. However, I had to respect someone for challenging themselves and trying to prove that they could win a ring as the hands down best player on their team and I feel like Lebron didn't make that choice. I will admit that Kobe did have the benefit of already being a 3 time champ when he made that choice.

I don't get what you are trying to say here. Magic and Bird were 5-6 year veterans when Jordan got into the league and already had established teams.

Do the current Heat have more talent, in spots 1-12, than the recent Laker or Celtic teams? Than Jordan's teams? Than any title team in the 80's?

You need to realize 3 dudes doesn't make a roster. You act like the Heat are fielding the most stacked squad you have ever seen.

deep roster of 1-12 is slightly overrated in the playoffs when you can play star players for 40+ minutes. the big 3 in miami are all around 40+ minutes per game (lebron playing 44) in the playoffs right now

The NBA isn't a depth league. You don't need 12 players to win. All you need is a solid 8 man rotation and if you have 2 superstars and 1 all star you don't need much more especially when those two players are two of the top 3 players in the league.

As far as recent teams go take Lebron, Wade, Bosh off the Heat and put in CP3/Howard/Amare or Johnson/Dirk/Howard with the exact same supporting case and you would have a beast of a team. You don't need depth when there are two people on the court that must be doubled at all times.

If you want to go to the Jordan era let's say we put the best player in the league which is Jordan with the third best who is probably Robinson and then throw in an all star like Vin Baker. I don't care who else is on that team they are the favorites. If you are one of those people that think Jordan is too super to compare give me Hakeem, Barkley, and KJ in 93 and whoever else you want and I still say they win it all even against the Jordan Bulls.
