Thought id go into history and look at this: 2010 - July 25: 40-58 - Sept 20: 73-77, Final: 76-86 2009 - May 29: 19-28 - July 24th: 50-46, Final:74-88 2008 - July 25: 47-55 - Final: 86-75 2007 - No comeback 2006 - Aug 23: 60-67 - Final: 82-80 2005 - May 31: 19-32 - Final: 89-73 2004 - Jul 21: 46-48 - Final: 92-70 2003 - May 2: 12-16 - Final: 87-75 2002 - June 27: 34-43 - Final: 84-78 The first date represents the day marking the beginning of the comeback (the game after their lowest point).
http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/ Was my reference. Except for 2007, they started bad and then had a run. Not sure if 2009 counts in that they went south after July 24th. But they did make up 13 games in the May29-July24 period.
So are the Stros REALLY platooning a .318/.391/.459 hitter with a guy hitting .244/.271/.384??? That 2006 run was pretty intense, they basically played medicore ball for all but the last 10 days of the season. Then flipped the switch one series to late but that was a wild last 10 days, watching the Stros go nuts and Cards collapse.
Vs lefties: Wallace - .267 Lee - .282 Vs Righties: Wallace - .331 Lee - .233 http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/player/splits/2011/1630094 http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/player/splits/2011/21607
Nice job by Bud getting out more trouble after the HR. That is really the key for Bud, limit those big innings and he should be more then okay. I am truly concerned about a no-hitter tonight, Kershaw looks locked in and Stros are starting guys with .244, .211, .221, .167 and .226 at gametime...those don't include Q or Bud.
What im truly concerned about is Norris's PC. He may not go beyond 5. 4 innings with our relief staff is a scary proposition.
Astros made a good strategic move in my opinion, but Ethier is not who you want to see at the plate in that situation. Yeah, baby.
Had to take the chance to get an ace like Kershaw out of the game early. Risk worth taking. Norris just didn't come through.
Man, Jansen's usually one of the better relief pitchers in the Dodgers' bullpen, but he's really getting this one get away from under him.
