Obama said we shouldn't be air raiding villages and killing civilians; is his current position a flip, a flop or just a mistake?
why does every thread/post turn into a bash (insert Republican candidate here) followed up by someone bashing Obama? Anyways I agree Tim Pawlenty or T-Paw? (he's gotta get rid of that nickname if he is serious about running) is relatively unknown right now. When I get a chance I'll do some research and see where he stands on key issues.
Good for him. Will keep an open mind. This move is more of a savvy calculated risk than gutsy. With Daniels declining to run and Gingrich flaming out, Pawlenty has a chance to seize the moment & grab the spotlight that little-known candidates can only dream of.
Worth having to watch the ad. <table style='font:11px arial; color:#333; background-color:#f5f5f5' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='512' height='340'><tbody><tr style='background-color:#e5e5e5' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;'><a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.colbertnation.com'>The Colbert Report</a></td><td style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; text-align:right; font-weight:bold;'>Mon - Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c</td></tr><tr style='height:14px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:2px 1px 0px 5px;' colspan='2'><a target='_blank' style='color:#333; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/377119/march-10-2011/colbert-pac-ad'>Colbert PAC Ad</a></td></tr><tr style='height:14px; background-color:#353535' valign='middle'><td colspan='2' style='padding:2px 5px 0px 5px; width:512px; overflow:hidden; text-align:right'><a target='_blank' style='color:#96deff; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;' href='http://www.colbertnation.com/'>www.colbertnation.com</a></td></tr><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><embed style='display:block' src='http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:cms:item:comedycentral.com:377119' width='512' height='288' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='window' allowFullscreen='true' flashvars='autoPlay=false' allowscriptaccess='always' allownetworking='all' bgcolor='#000000'></embed></td></tr><tr style='height:18px;' valign='middle'><td style='padding:0px;' colspan='2'><table style='margin:0px; text-align:center' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='100%' height='100%'><tr valign='middle'><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.colbertnation.com/full-episodes/'>Colbert Report Full Episodes</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.indecisionforever.com/'>Political Humor & Satire Blog</a></td><td style='padding:3px; width:33%;'><a target='_blank' style='font:10px arial; color:#333; text-decoration:none;' href='http://www.colbertnation.com/video'>Video Archive</a></td></tr></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
not only is this not funny but it makes literally no sense. What? We haven't had a budget for 2 years? Does it mean a balanced one? There's nothing left for the democrats? Well, other than the Presidency? Which line is the punch line, is it "sirah" and does it mean Syrah? Is it purposefully misspelled? Or is there an alt spelling? I don't know wine much.
The joke takes a certain urbane sophistication, and an appreciation for hot conservative women (redundant, i know), both of which you lack.
Uh, those "women" are cartoon drawings and a fantasy construct of the cartoonist (and obviously, at least one reader).
Umm, I can honestly say that if I were the most extreme right-wing hawk imaginable, I wouldn't find that funny. It doesn't take any special intelligence at all to decipher that comic strip. It's not offensive, it's not insulting, it's.....well, it just lacks humor.
they were also major contributors to obamas campaign. but yes samuel, despite the fact that they supported his run for president, benefit from his policies and even have their CEO's go to work in his administration they all hate him, lol. i dont know why you are arguing that obama has not been, like his predecessor(s), a corporatist...a shill...a tool. university of phoenix online law rocks!
given that GE is directly benefiting from policies obama is advocating i would also be correct in saying that having their CEO head up your economic advisory council just might be a wee bit of a conflict of interest. who is he more beholden to - the american taxpayer or his shareholders? and we dont even need to get into how companies like GE spend millions on lobbying our elected officials and virtually writing the laws and regulations for our "representatives" to vote on. its a joke, but thats the way our government works. nothing has changed under obama and that is why i said that the republicans, even if they fielded a candidate worth a damn, dont have a chance. the people who really run our government are perfectly happy with obama. what i wish is that through my own malfeasance and greed i could totally f*** up a multi-trillion dollar company, get bailed out by the government and still be able to hook me and all my buddies up w/ big fat bonuses!
If I was a complete alien to the US and had no familiarity with its political parties, the conspicuous absence of satire coming from the right would immediately indicate to me that conservatives are uhh... well, dumb. That's painting with a really broad brush of course, but it's so striking--and telling--that all political satire (that I'm aware of at least) is almost exclusively from left-leaning entities.
There is satire from the right, though it is not as common or as popular. Part of that is likely due to the fact that artists make satire and artists tend to lean left.
No they weren't, Citizens United wasn't in force in the 2008 cycle - they didn't give a single dime. Even if you aggregate the contributions from employees of all these corporations you named, it barely amounts to anything (a few hundred thousand to a a million in change at most - chump change in a billion dollar campaign). Actually the forces that expended the most in favor of Obama weren't corporations, rather it was unions, their sworn enemy, which acting individually expended hundreds of millions of dollars on his behalf. That would be hundreds of millllions more than the entities you named. Indeed, I'm proud of The Phoenix, a familiar sight from my school days. . Good of you to remind everybody, tuna.
Rather amusing Pawlenty Fact-Check. The continued myth that Obama increased taxes is particularly outrageous.
