np man, sad to see CF.net family not keepin up ratio promises, it makes things harder for the rest of us to want to share. For those who are having difficulty with keeping ratios up, here's a few tips: 1) Look for something that has alot of leechers and not alot of seeders. Usually this'll be things that are new/popular/hot and you can get in there and d/l them, then leave them on for seeding for a few days. If you find something less than 1 gig, you can usually get back 3-5 gigs in upload for that 1 gig download by leaving it seeding for 3-5 days. (Depending on your speed, etc, but general guideline) I usually like to start with something small, because its easier to download real quick and upload real quick. It's all about numbers. Now once you've established yourself some mini credibility, have a good ratio with say 10gig uploaded, 2 gig downloaded now you can move onto downloading the more fun stuff that's larger. Having a good "ratio cushion" will allow you to go after this bigger stuff. Rush right in I will you say? Patience young padawan. 2) Go find the [FreeLeech] torrents (specific to IP torrents, but I know other private trackers have free leech periods on specific torrents as well) Usually you can find something of interest on freeleech. Freeleech has multiple benefits: 2a) Your download doesn't count against your download ratio. 2b) Your upload DOES count toward your upload ratio. This way, employing the strategy above, you can once again grab something you like, something like a BIG file/collection and then leave your torrent file up and seeding after you finish downloading. Since it's free leech (and if its popular) you'll have plenty of people leeching it as well, and part of those uploads will come from you and there you have it. Massive upload ratio increases. Now once you've got something near a 20-30gig upload/10 download (2.0/3.0 ratio) you my friend, are in a comfortable place to now continue and download whatever you'd like without worrying as much about your ratio, since you've implemented the ratio cushion. And please watch your caps if your on AT&T or Comcast or any national internet provider (im sure all of them have caps now). Your cap will count download, upload and all traffic (browsing, youtube, gaming, netflix). If you don't keep an eye on it, it can easily pass the 150gig or 250gig caps and then they will charge you and it will hurt. Just FYI, in my months just browsing/videogaming/netflix and occasional torrenting I tend to use an average of 25-50gig. However my first month on IP, I quickly shot that number outta the ballpark to a 260gig. uTorrent has a built in cap tool you can use to measure all your upload/download traffic for the last 30 days. You can also set an artificial cap limit in there, so when your upload/download traffic hits the cap limit, it'll automatically stop uploading/downloading. Find your billing cycle, reset the uTorrent counter and keep an eye on it!
Thanks for the tips. I had no idea this "freeleech" concept existed -- very cool. If anyone needs Demonoid invites, I have some to give out as well. Thanks again to souprocket and tmoney for the invite.
I would greatly appreciate an invite. cc952006@yahoo.com. I emailed your sig a couple of days ago too
Tmoney... I had issues on my end. I just switched over to U-torrent. For whatever reason, bit-torrent wasn't letting people DL from me at all. I also made the mistake of dling some old WCW PPV matches. I'll make sure to fix this this week. Any additional tips would be appreciated.
^^Ha! I never actually setup the e-mail, but it would be funny to see how many people e-mailed it. Invite sent
Pirate Bay had been pretty unreliable lately, so I would be eternally grateful for an invite. I'm at Zepp1978@Gmail.com THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
if you or anyone else has an iptorrents invite would appreciate one - i always keep my seeds open shri3324@yahoo.com thanks
I would just reiterate what RRus posted above, useful info. I appreciate the effort. I'll get you first on the next batch, yoyo.
Sent, enjoy. quick note: A confirmation email has been sent to the address you specified (shri3324@yahoo.com). You need to read and respond to this email before you can use your account. If you don't do this, the new account will be deleted automatically after a few days. Also, vvvv...
thanks yeah I know the process the only time I've not carried a good ratio was on a site where I started to download a 4 gig movie and after i did I was seeding for a day and i got booted since my ratio was under .75 there was no grace period to allow me to get back up to 1 or anything. other than that the only other site i use is demonoid and i am fine on there and tvtorrents and i am nearing a TB of credit on there
anyone know of a different private torrent site that has a huge tv selection? i have tv torrents but they do not have a 1080p blu-ray rip of LOST season 2 and 3 ( they have the other remaining 4 seasons in 1080p rips) tried seeing if it was on iptorrents (thanks again to tmoney101 for the invite there) but not there either, they had the entire show in 720p I guess short of buying the blu-ray collection itself i would rather try to get those two remaining seasons if possible. I do have a large screen tv so I can tell the difference between 720 and 1080 - i mean for most tv shows 720 is perfect but for a show that was as amazing and beautiful as lost would prefer 1080. thanks in advance
I finally got some invites to IPtorrents if anyone still needed one. Think I still have some Demonoid ones too.
No Worries, I sent you the IPt invite. Other guy who repped, I e-mailed you with demonoid invite. Someone emailed me as well, waiting for them to respond again to send them a demonoid invite.
I have lots of D codes... my ratio is like... 6 or something... is that good or bad? I'd like a waffles one, please-o.
