Thor 7/10. It was fun, but zero character development whatsoever. I mean, Thor spends one night on a roof with Natalie Portman and they are instantly in love?

Toy Story 3 10/10. Seriously...I didnt even want to watch this, but I thought it was (1) the most adult of the series (2) the best of the series (3) really @#$#%@ heavy in the last 30 minutes. Shockingly good for a kids flick, but then again, Pixar is amazing.

2012 5/10. It was on cable, forgive me. Amusing. But really dumb.

I actually just finished watching this the other day too.. I'm not sure, but after hearing such great reviews about it, maybe I went in expecting too much, but I didn't think it was all that great...

I also had heard it was tear-jearkingly sad, which I also didn't get. I felt the end was more happy/positive than sad.

Overall I was a bit let down, but still enjoyed it

Ponyo - 8/10 - Saw this last night with my wife and son. It reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki's other films, which is a good thing. You have to suspend disbelief in some spots and that's saying a lot considering it's expected in a movie with a giant goddess and big flying fish. Overall a worth addition to his legacy.

watched this with my 3-year old nephew (well, he watched the first 15 minutes). liam neeson's creepy sea-wizard character scared the ***** out of him to the point where pretty much every time i speak to him now, the first thing he says is "I don't want to watch Ponyo".

aside from that, this movie is pretty much weird as hell/incomprehensible throughout. still can't really say i understood what happened with all the underwater dead people, but, i wouldn't recommend this movie to kids.

very bizarre, very japanese. but hard to take your eyes off of.

    Tron Legacy 3/10

I didn't expect much, just wanted to see some stylish sci fi imagery. It didn't really deliver in that regard, and the as a movie itself it sucked. Points solely for the Daft Punk cameo. I hate myself for watching it.

Up's first sequence is really sad, but Grave of the Fireflies is like a 1.5 hour continuous punch in the groin.

Really liked it. It may not be that much of an original story, but it got me emotionally hooked. The military chick was hot too.

True. That was beyond depressing and one of those movies that you can only watch once because who would want to go through that a second time...? I just haven't been really sad from an animation in a while.

I'm going to have to check out this Grave of the Fireflies as I read about it quite often on this BBS.

Hansel and Gretel (Korean) 2007?- 4 out of 5

I was surprised at how good this film was, didn't know much about it, no real expectations. I had seen it on a few horror lists and decided to check it out. Kind of like a Tale Of Two Sisters feel, probably not quite as good, though.
Great storytelling, beautiful atmosphere and creative.
Like a lot of Korean films I've seen, also very touching/beautiful and sad.
I enjoy the thought that goes into a lot of Korean Horror, not visually brutal/heavy like American Horror, but emotionally so.

Toy Story 3 - 10/10 i'm with someone up there who said this was an unexpected pleasure to watch; tuned in on whim since it was on demand.

    The Fall - 8/10

Ip man - 8/10 Donnie Yen is a beast!

Ip man 2 - 7/10 Didn't like this one as much as the first, but Donnie Yen is a beast.

Thor. 8.5/10...probably would have been a 9 if the 3d wasnt out of focus in the theatre, which took away from the wide shots. Still, a really fun movie and cool. Agree with the rushed/odd love story between he and portman but whatever.

That's about what I would give the 3D version, the one I saw. More entertaining than I expected.

    Hanna 8/10

The movie was outstanding. The plot wasn't that revolutionary or anything but everything else was amazing. From the Chemical Brothers infused soundtrack, to the cinematography, colour scheme and mood made this a very enjoyable film for me.
