Yeah u are right on that, but i was thinking on chicago and okc, since they got a hole at the sg position. Manu could fit any team. Hes got no ego, so he could come from the bench after dwade or kobe if he plays for those teams.
They will have some options this off season. Thye have plenty of options. Redd or Dunleavy - aging vets who were good scorers with no athleticism or D, but they can still shoot and can come cheap. Shannon Brown or Marquis Daniels could be good fits too, vets with some athleticism and well balanced games as well having NBA finals experience, plus they wont be too dear. Daequan Cook or Reggie Williams wouldnt be bad either, young and upcoming shooting guards who will be definitely affordable and they would be definite upgrades over Keith Bogans. Von Wafer or Douglas Roberts - Last options. Nick Young or Marcus Thornton might be too expensive for them. But one of those guys could make the Bulls a nightmare to deal with.
I guess this is where we disagree. Contrary to popular belief, non-star two-way sgs in the league are few and far between. Sure there will be guys like S-Jax, but those usually sign contracts in the 10M+ range. Lee gives them a solid two-player who is good enough to hit open shots from 3. Definitely would have helped them IMHO. Regarding Lee vs Asik, value is also relative to the respective teams. Chicago has Asik dirt cheap right now, however they already have Noah locking down the C spot for the rest of Rose's career. They should have taken our offer and upgraded their sg position considering how open the east is right now. You never know what might happen in the future, which is why if you have the window open you go for broke.
Mayo was THE BEST 3 point shooter on the Grizzlies during their playoff run. He has a great stroke, when he spots up its net.. His percentages are all about shot selection as he finds himself taking contested 3's to find offense for his team..
That SG spot will be prime for any free agent out there. Chicago will want someone who can take pressure off of Derrick Rose mainly so I would think that Shannon Brown or Marcus Thornton would be wonderful fits, and would fit within their salary cap spending abilities. The Bulls will be right in the mix again next year, and an improvement to the SG spot will make Rose that much more dangerous.
If im chicago i will offer asik, brewer + draft pick/s for manu ginobili. I would also say joe jhonson would be great in chicago, but his contract is just r****ded. They really need another creator and scorer on that team. I will also be willing to shop boozer.
Chicago does not need a star SG. They just need another guard who can handle and create. If I were Thibs I would have played Watson a lot more in this series. However, I don't think they can't beat the Heat even with another guard. Miami is that good.
Serviceable SG? They probably thought Bogans and Brewer were serviceable. I'm sure the Bulls would rather a legit SG than Asik, at this very moment in time.
A point that bears repeating, one that's been made here before. I really thought the Bulls would go for the Lee/Asik deal. They may wish right about now that they had. You never know when you can get this kind of a shot at the Finals and Lee might have been that difference maker for them. Sure, they have options to fill the hole at the two during the off-season, but not now.
I dont agree... they need another scorer. Watching chicago play offense is painfull. They depend on what drose can do. They really need another guy who can score, and create for himself or others, and their sg position is really weak, they only got decent defenders there who cant even hit an open 3... or a guy like korver who is only a shooter, but cant create or defend.
Lee could have shut down LeBron. But nope, they wanted Asik to guard Boozer, who shuts himself down. Woulda, coulda shoulda.
I'm not saying they don't need another scorer and ballhandler. They do. I'm saying that they don't need a *star* SG like some suggest. They just need someone who's better than the no-offense Bogans/Brewer or no-denfese Korver like you said. O.J. Mayo would have made them much better. They still couldn't beat Miami even if they had a good SG. Miami is a team with two top five players and one top 15 player. We've rarely seen such collections in the NBA.
they had a chance at smith and balked at the last minute. They coul ld use lee,but they need a guy who can carry the offense at times. Lee is not that guy.
