Barkley was responding to Wade's arrogant comments that "the world is happier now that Miami Heat lost".

Barkley was pointing out the fact that people don't care about the Heat nearly as much as the superfriends (and their fans) think people do. He was basically telling them to shut up and play because the world isn't out to get them (and he is right).

Considering that these games have been breaking cable basketball ratings, I think it's safe to assume that people do care about the Heat.

If you don't think this Heat team is one of the most hated teams in American sports history, I don't know what you've been following this season.

They say it's a sprained left leg for Aşık. That's about all that's come out so far.

With the bigs that the Bulls have, it's quite baffling as to how they don't push it more often....

Damn, i can feel my two friend's bragging powers growing right now. If the Bulls can't win from here on, then i guess Dallas/Okc is the only hope to stop the horde. :D

Yeah because England, Australia, Scotland, Brazil and a crapload of other country gives a **** about Miami Heat right? Because every single person in the states watch the Miami Heat right? Because the world is happier if the Miami Heat lost right?

Did I say the Heat is not one of the most hated teams in sports? Nope, and I have no idea how you came up with that idea (Miami Heat syndrome?). But I don't know how arrogant you have to be if you think the world revolves around Miami Heat.

Well, it's the same kind of arrogance the NBA has when calling the title the "world championship" (esp. in those years the USA didn't even win the real world championships).

OKC has no shot, but they aren't getting by Dallas anyway. Dallas/Miami could be a very good series.

America is one of the most arrogant countries in the world, and that's how it is. (I don't want to spiral a whole country debate here).

But Barkley was keeping it real. He was laughing at the fact that the Miami Heat honestly thought the world was out to get them.

Barkley was having a huge laugh about it because Japan just got hit with several disasters and people in Africa are suffering from starvation yet Wade is arrogant enough to think these people are more concerned with whether the Miami Heat won their last game.

Where did I say that literally every single person hates the Miami Heat? Nowhere.

When Charles Barkley goes on the radio and says that nobody hates the Miami Heat, that is pure delusion.

What I do know is that almost every basketball fan I know and most people on the internet are rooting for anyone to beat the Heat. I never said anything about the world revolving around this team, it's a basketball team.

And then you have popular members of the media openly rooting against the Heat. Bill Simmons, Tony Kornheiser, Michelle Beadle, Ric Bucher, Matthew Berry...and those are just a few that popped into my head.

Stop building up strawmen, you're taking one hyperbolic statement and acting as if Wade is proclaiming that he's being crucified at the stake.

Yeah, and you think Barkley literally meant nobody hates the Heat?

Basketball fans may hate the Heat, but I do know a lot of casual fans love the Heat. Is that everyone? Is that all sports fans?

Why don't you take your own advice and stop building up strawmen? You're taking one hyperbolic statement and acting as if Barkley is proclaiming that the moon landing was fake.

Lebrons the best player in the league by far. You can't even hate on that.

What it comes down to that all rational people realize that the Heat are one of the most hated teams ever. So were the 90's Cowboys, current Jets, and Yankees throughout history; they have a ton of casual fans but that doesn't mean that they don't have legions of people that despise them. Barkley's assertion was that the Heat are not generally disliked at all, which is absurd and delusional.

What Wade said was an accurate reflection of the sports climate in the context of basketball. No rational person would take his comment to mean that he believes starving children in Bolivia are living and dying on whether the Heat lose.

Do you honestly not see how ridiculously hypocritical your statement is.

What is the opposite of everybody (world)? Nobody.

Wade basically said EVERYBODY is happy that the Miami Heat lost.

Barkley basically said NOBODY hates the Heat.

What Barkley said was an accurate reflection of the sports climate in the context of....sports. No rational person would take his comment to mean that he believes not one single basketball fan hates Miami Heat.

I just basically used your argument and replaced Wade instead of Barkley and it makes perfect sense.

If you still don't see how hypocritical your argument is... Well good luck.

Wade's statement implies that the vast majority of fans want the Heat to lose.

Which we can both agree is accurate, unless you want to argue otherwise.

Barkley's statement implies that very few fans want the Heat to lose.

Which is inaccurate, as it is evident to me that the Heat are one of the most hated teams ever.

So no, it is not the same thing once you stop analyzing every statement completely literally as if this were a math equation.
