Will do, my current ratio over at the demon is 1.5 (1.5 up/1.0 down) and when I move in a few months and switch from AT&T to Comcast, i'll be receiving a nice boost in speeds to help me continue my ratiotastic ways.
Stupid question: What makes demonoid and iptorenets so much better than torrentz and isohunt? Invitations appreciated.
Demonoid and IPTorrents are private trackers (eh Demonoid not AS private). Basically allows for a little more security when your underground down deep in the dirty. Also alot more reliable content, less fake/virus content, more seeders, etc.
Thanks, I see, I hate the fake stuff, I abstain from downloading until I see positive comments. Can I find more undergroundish stuff as well? My address is gary_andresh at *hotmail.com
better or rarer material too. There's so much niche stuff it's ridiculous. Woodworking, billiards, engine schematics, and that's just videos. It was also the first torrent site I remember to have p90x when I started looking for it lo so many years ago.
I got a letter from a movie studio/my ISP after downloading something on Demonoid, so just be aware it's not totally secure just because it is a private tracker. For that reason I rarely use Demonoid anymore, and wouldn't think of using a public tracker for anything. You're probably a bit safer though using sites that are a little tougher to get on.
It'll always depend on what you download and how long you keep it around seeding. If your out there downloading the hottest new album or movie out, then you should sort of expect this. Most studios will target their freshest releases and highest grossing releases in order to do as much damage control on loss prevention they can. For the older and more rare stuff, it's usually not as big of a concern. Just get your new stuff when it comes out on redbox or netflix, it's not worth thousands of dollars to download a movie you could've waited 6 months for in better quality, or paid $4-12 at a theater for... Not to be conclusive of course, what movie was it that you got a warning for?
I'm curious about this. As an author I don't think I could ever download free copies of someone's book, but I will make an exception. If I own a physical copy of a book (and I own a lot), I do think it's fair play to download it to my Kindle. It would be nice to take a bunch of books with me when I travel without having to pack an oversize suitcase. I feel like a moral relativist.
I've got 3 more invites for IP, a couple of the people I gave one to last time aren't keeping their word as far as their ratio is concernded. This is discouraging, but I'll give clutchfans another shot. I'm only dolling these out to reputable members of the board and would appreciate people keeping a good ratio, in return, for the invite. thanks to freik and RRRus for keeping your word.
