So because she takes the purse the second time, probably out of spite, she was going to steal it the first time? Yes, she definitely wanted to take it the second time, no doubt about it. Dumb and ignorant, no doubt. I've said just as much in the thread but again nobody is focusing on that instance, they're all calling her a thief from the start. I'm not defending her actions just saying we do not know her intentions the first time around, can you disagree with that?
The difference is nobody was focusing on the second event just the first one and using such great evidence as since they are black and the woman is black they know she was going to steal the purse or she was running in heels or she was smiling or she crossed the road. It is just as dumb as her actions the second time around.
I don't think it's a race thing. But I do think it's a "big dude trying to punk a little dude thing". In other words, if another swole guy came up to explain the joke then I'm not sure if that kid tries to come out of his shirt. That's why I like to see the footage of guys trying to punk people that look like they can't fight and then getting their ass kicked (like that old guy on the bus).
Why do you say nobody was focusing on the second event? That is not true. Nobody would even mention the first event if not for the second event.
Because they're not. If the second part was omitted we would probably still see people accusing her of going to steal the bag the first time around, let's not act like there wouldn't be. This little nugget in my rep list pretty much shows that: http://img863.imageshack.us/i/reputation.png/ Let's just agree to disagree and move on, it seems easier.
Sorry, but that is pure speculation. I certainly would not suspect her more than anyone else, just based on the first scene. But after having seen the second scene, you KNOW she wants to steal that thing, then it is only logical to assume that there is a good chance that that was already her intention the first time around. P.S.: At least you got rep out of that comment (wasn't me).
Isn't everybody speculating on what her intention was the first time or do they know for a fact she was going to steal? The reason I posted the rep was to show I haven't shown anything in this thread where I base my assumptions on race yet I am still accused of doing so. What is her reason for wanting to steal the bag the second time? I believe it is out of spite for getting embarrassed but nobody really knows. It does make a difference believe it or not. If she wanted to just steal the bag why not just do it the first time you're there, yank it off the string and take it instead of coming back? I think she probably drove off (we don't know what type of editing has been done to this video either) and pride got the best of her and she took the bag out of anger and embarrassment. It doesn't mean she was going to take it the first time for personal gain. Again we can make back and forth assumptions all day but nobody knows.

Her intent likely changed in the second scene. She could've done it out of anger, curiosity, spite, greed, principle, or all of the above. It's not as simple as her being a thief.
You are confusing motivation and intent. She had the intent to steal, no doubt about it. Whether there was any additional motivation like the ones you described above (very well possible) does not negate the fact that she had the intent to steal, and she did steal.
You're right. Here are the not so cleverly disguised rules: 1. If a white person does something stupid, that person is crazy. 2. If a black person does something stupid, ALL black people are criminal, stupid, lazy, etc.
It's inconclusive to say that she would've stole the purse the first time. Out of sheer nosiness and curiosity, she could've checked it out and plan to throw it back... or even find the person's address and return it. So what if she looked all giddy... It was raining and the situation could cause excitement. And it's plausible to say that once she discovered it was a prank, she decided to get all righteous and end it then and there.
its simple minded ignorance to see the black and white in this. That is as arbitrary as trying to differentiate different caucasian's actions by their tan levels, etc. you take a black guy from a well to do family, educated, you will get a different result. Same with a white guy, hispanic, or whatever race. You take a black, white, whatever race guy with a ghetto, perhaps violent, but poor uprbringing, you will get a different result depending on where and how they were cultured. Its not a race thing, its socioeconomic thing. It is a clear cut fact.
Yes, so what? I am talking about the second time. Fact of the matter is that she stole the purse. Nobody else did. Everyone trying to make excuses for the lady by saying maybe she did not mean to steal it the first time is missing the point. To me, this is not a race thing. It's an idiot thing. And she and the people in the van are the only idiots in this video. Why anyone would defend them is beyond me.
I'm not defending the thieves. Just pointing out that people in this thread are forming more than they should with what's presented to them, so discussion about being quick to judge is fair game considering the number of pages devoted to the thieves' race and behavior.
