5-year old thread bump, but I basically wanted to say the same thing in a thread.

I recently got back from Florida, where I rediscovered 7-Eleven and the Slurpee drink. I'm not big into those drinks, but that was awesome -- better than Icee or Sonic slushes. I looked online and couldn't believe there weren't any 7-Elevens in Houston anymore.

Is there any place in this town where you can get the original Slurpee?

Hmmm... I haven't had a Slurpee in forever... now you guys are going to make me go get one. Must. Resist.

And since Slurpee is a 7-11 thing as far as I know, I doubt there's anywhere you can get one in Houston.

Yeah, when 7 -11 went the way of the DoDo in Houston ..so did anything but cherry and coke Slurpees. Back in the day I loved the orange, lime, and grape flavors....served in the plastic cup with a picture of a MLB player on it. I think I had Cesar Cedeno on my last one.

Thanks DoD, Joshfast. Sucks. Guess I'll just have to get one when I visit Austin or Dallas. Can't believe there isn't a single one in the Houston area.

Wow, I had forgotten about those. Thanks for the flashback.

This is one of the many reasons Houston will never be compared with Paris.

I know a Sam's Club location in Houston used to have a Slurpee machine, its the only one I had ever seen in Houston and the only one I have seen outside a 7-11, but I dont remember what location it was

Odd how its like that for Houston. In Orange County, CA here they're all over.

My bus route to work stops directly in front of a 7-11 every day. :) On the way home it stops in front of a Valero, not too far from an AM-PM station.

I havent had a Slurpee in a while for diet reasons. Stopping in 7-11 I usually pick up coffee and every once in while some Sushi-To-Go!

(I know nothing about sushi, just do it for the novelty)

Sushi? From a gas station? That sounds like a 2-3 day appt with the toilet, to me.

    LOL.
I remember Holiday and SA. Good times.

I used to drive all the way from my apt in Plymouth to downtown Mpls to get to the one Popeye's that was there. I had a white buddy that was always afraid to go cause it was in "da hood".

The one thing that I really miss about MN is Papa Murphy's Take N Bake. Large pepperoni. Mmm, mmm, good.

Man, good old days. I know that if you put arcade games in corner stores, they would still make a profit. Nothing like smoking someone in real life at Street Fighter (whatever version).

Can agree, even with cell phone games and handheld systems, depending on the game it can work in limited instances. Need to let kids play outside again (more absentee parents not watching their kids? lol.) Actually, there are still the kids that'll gather together and play card games at the comic stores. Those are the types that'll play arcade games.

Myself when I'm waiting for the bus sometimes I'll read some magazines at the 7-11. If they had an arcade game in there like NBA Jam or something, I'd be tempted to do that instead

I fogot there were none in Houston...I've been in Dallas for 7 years so I'm use to it now...kids and I love Slurpees...mmm...Big Gulp...

Just like any convenience store, the rest of the crap is overpriced, but they always have good deals on hotdogs, etc...

I thought about this when I read aboutthe following:

In June, 7-Eleven will be slapping Slurpees into cups with dual chambers, a special valve and two straws that let folks drink one or two Slurpee flavors at a time.

There's one just in front of my neighborhood in Round Rock. I'm sure that helps.

I thought Burger Kings sold slurpees. Can't you just go to one in Houston to get your fix?

Too much sugar in those things anyway. It goes straight into your fat stores. Then, you just have to work out that much harder.

Have a protein shake and add some ice. lol.
