Recently I have really started to gravitate toward Z-Ro's style of music. But my question is kind of lyrics do you like? I will admit that as far as raw lyrical skills Lil Wayne is better than Z-Ro. But there are other qualities to rap and hip hop.

sorry that didn't come out right. I clicked enter too early. Damn.. But yeah, with Z ro his soul and roots shine through his music, while with Wayne you can tell he's just rapping to sell an image. tell me what ya think. or if anything re-post a better version of this. Because I think this is a topic worth discussing.

    gracias.

I can't stand Lil Wayne, so I'd pick pretty much anybody else versus him. Hell, I may even take that god-awful Drake over Wayne. I've heard Z-ro's stuff in the past and liked it, but the dude seems borderline suicidal.

If you want a Houston rapper then go with Chamillionaire or Short Dawg.

Chammillionaire has come with some good stuff his mixtapes are always good if they are legitimate. I for some reason really can't appreciate slim thug or Bun B. not sure why, hear their stuff a lot around here but never loved it.

You've gotta find the good stuff. Cocaine is a good one Disc 2 is better than one. But I definitely agree that the slow beat and rough lyrics can make it a bit depressing at times, but at some point you appreciate it. Just don't listen and then immediatly try to conversate with people especially not at work..It makes you think " you know what? F**K this guy"

Right? Z-Ro is one of the greatest of all time (imo). Wayne pre-Carter 3 was pretty good but the Carter 3 was terrible, and everything after has been radio-friendly pop music that I would barely call "hip hop." If you're seriously considering Z-Ro vs Wayne then you probably aren't a Houstonian.

New age rap is terrible. Mid 90's was the glory days for rap (and mostly everything) Everything is a lot less creative.
