He wanted a pass all the way to the final interview round... It wasn't going to happen.

Wouldn't rejecting the Rockets for another job insinuate that the Rockets offered him the job first?

Since that didn't happen, who gives a s***?

Also, wouldn't it help the OP's case had Brown actually been hired?

According to this link, it doesn't show him have the job yet:

Golden State is looking for a new coach. Former Cleveland coach Mike Brown, Lakers assistant Brian Shaw, Celtics assistant Lawrence Frank and Dallas assistant Dwane Casey are among the top candidates.

You do realize that Golden State just fired their coach after one season, right?

We can all rationalize why the Rockets are not good. I do happen to think Morey is a fantastic GM whose trade/transaction history is as good as Sam Presti's. The only difference being Kevin Durant became a star and Yao Ming/Tmac broke down.

Morey put together a supporting cast that would have fit Yao/Tmac then broke that down and made one that fit Yao only (hedging the bet he could return). He got incredibly unlucky that both aren't playing at an all-star level now.

That being said, the metric of a GM is team performance. We're not good. Thus he can not be called a good GM, it really is that simple. In Morey's case it would certainly have been better to be lucky (that Yao/Mac were healthy) than good.

History books don't record mediocre performers no matter how 'clever' they are.

    Will this be the benchmark.

Will Golden State have a better record than our?

Actually. . . i think Brown rejected us . .. because he was never going to be a serious candidate. Why be a part of the Dog and Pony Show?

Why doesn't Mike Brown even get an inch of credit for the success in Cleveland? All of it goes to LeBron?

I guess Phil Jackson doesn't deserve any credit. Kobe, Shaq, and Jordan deserve all the credit.

Do you think he had much choice in the matter?
