Nothing wrong at all with what the PM said- seems well-spoken and intelligent, obviously has to support Israel 100%- and what President Obama said yesterday is also completely understandable.
Keep in mind Israel launched the first attack in 1967. That is one reason why they were so successful they basically wiped out the Arab air forces in a surprise attack.
I doubt anything happens tomorrow but I am ready if it does. I do think things are lining up for the rapture to happen in the very near future. A lot of people who study Bible prophecy believe the same thing. The guy who says it will happen tomorrow seems to ignore the scripture that says nobody knows except God.
and i guess the adl, right? can you explain to me why the adl was in favor of the president's comments? are they now anti-israel?
First, if we have to resort to a sports term to describe a discussion among world leaders, then we're really in trouble. Second, if by schooled you meant showed him up, how? President Obama stated his case, the PM stated his, they both agreed they were friends, and they both agreed they had differences, and they both agreed to work things out as best they could. Talk is cheap, of course, but as all we have to go by is this, then I fail to see where the "schooling" is- schooling would mean that he proved the President wrong when all he did was simply state his side.
I find it funny that Americans are happy that their president gets basically shutdown and slapped by a country with less people and size than some of our smallest states. A country that we consider a "friend" and give billions every year. If this was a different situation with any country except Israel, Americans would be angry that their president got treated that way and furious at those who were happy that the president was treated that way. It is essentially, to use the buzzword in the 2000s, "unpatriotic". The amount of ridiculous, illogical and borderline absurd support for a country so in the wrong is truly appalling. There is a reason that the UN is set to vote on Palestinian statehood and Israel is running to big brother America to have its back. The majority of world powers have turned against Israel not because of anti-antisemitism, but because of the whole right vs. wrong thing. Heck, even if they want to claim the "winnings of war" they'd still have to give up alot of land that was taken post winning, under the guise of "buffer zones to protect from terrorism" and illegal settlements built. Plus usually when you WIN territory in a war, you CLAIM it, ANNEX it and then give the citizens equal treatment and rights under your county's guidelines. Not treat it as a place where you can choose to accept only people of your religion, give them rights and housing and neglect all others. I dunno about you, but if I had a younger brother running to me for support, I gave him advice to help him out with his problems and in return he basically denied my advice, slapped my hand away even though i give him allowance money every week and continued to ask for help but not listen to advice, I'd probably be pretty upset.
As with virtually all of our foreign aid money, it is a waste. We could resolve a large portion of our national debt if we sold our grain, arms, medicine etc. for actual hard cash just as other countries make us pay hard cash for their commodities (like oil). We do need to honor our treaty commitments, however, because Israel, if they know they are going to be exterminated, will use their nuclear option. That's too much to risk.
ah, let basso, thumbs and cml750 enjoy their little circle jerk that they no doubt would've called treasonous had this been bush instead of obama (and since he's saying the same thing bush/clinton did it could've very well been him) and liberals had been pumping their fists at a foreign leader criticizing our president.
At first i was like what? I don't think theres any way Israel would agree to such a thing. But it made a little more sense when I started to think about it. Israel Don't Build settlements like you said you wouldn't. Israel goes and builds settlments right after just to show defiance. I think that it has a lot to do with the fact that there is no way Israel listens to the smaller negotiations , so asking them to do something bigger might end up getting something smaller done. And **** netanyahu , I seriously don't understand how someone can act like they come into our country and act like their about to reprimand our pres. He needs his head cleaned out.
seriously? There are people on here that root against the U.S and its leader in a head to head meeting with another country? Go move there then.
Not sure what this means, but I just took this picture of these people floating up outside my office. One of them was yelling, "maybe next time cml!"
I think you are assuming quite a bit with Israel using nuclear weapons. Israel is the cream of the crop when it comes to conventional military power in the Middle East... by a mile.
Netanyahu talks about the 1967 borders as being an invitation to war yet seems to forget that two more wars were fought by Israel and its neighbors including the 1973 war that he himself fought in. The 1967 borders aren't much of a guarantee of security, one since Egypt and Lebanon are essentially at the 1967 borders already, but more importantly since Israel now has a nuclear deterrent. If anything the need to patrol and pacify the occupied territories is a drain on Israeli military resources and one of the reasons they withdrew from Lebanon and Gaza. The bigger issues are water resources of the Jordan river, settlements and that Israeli politics is held hostage by extremist parties that insist upon holding onto ancient land. In an age of fighter planes and missiles 9 miles or 50 miles doesn't make much of a difference. If war broke out again Arab planes and missiles would still reach Israel proper and vice versa whether Israel controlled the West Bank or not. Occupying the West Bank just means that there are millions of people inside Israel territory that don't like Israel. If Israel really wanted to clamp down on terrorism they would be better served by pulling back to roughly the 1967 border and fortifying that than trying to hold onto hostile territory.
