Spoiler Yeah, also it seems the people that have the ability to turn her into the zombie-like Brienne are the same ones that are responsible for her death. If they wanted her dead, I don't think they'd bother to bring her back. The people brought back Cat, because they didn't feel like she deserved to die. So it seems they only bring back people who they feel should live.
Spoiler I think the returning POV character will be Catelyn and we will hear about Brienne through her chapters. If Brienne truly died, GRRM has proven he has no problem killing a character off. Although, Theon is another character that fits the description.
Good read. Interesting that his papers are kept in the special collections at Texas A&M. Cool local connection.
Spoiler Brienne: True. They may or may not hang her and death is not necessarily final when Thoros of Myr is around. I do wonder what the point would be to hang her then resurrect her, though. Seem simpler just not to bother hanging her. Theon: Well, there is at least one Theon chapter posted (leaked?) on the internet. So, it's entirely possible. Speaking of Death: I wonder what happened to Rickon. We got to follow Bran's team around for a bit, but Rickon just kinda disappeared. Also curious about Davos... there's report of what happened to him, though, as we know, this kind of reports are not always trust-worthy. Also, are the papers kept at Texas A&M as oppose to any other university because Spoiler it's the least likely university to have students interested in reading? .
Spoiler I think the fact that GRRM has talked about Osha again recently, we'll see what happened with her and Rickon in Dragons. Or at least some sort of mention. I think we'd better stop using so many spoiler tags. I heard people don't like 'em.
Spoiler They got their own geek-free/book-free/spoiler-free thread now. Accordingly, Spoiler **** them.
Yet we still have to endure the spoiler tags. I'm on my third readthru of the books (I did it before Feast) and I'm really starting to buy into the Jon Snow parental theories.....
I'm willing to bet some of those have changed so much in GRRM's "rewrites" that I've never even read them.
So I just finished Game of Thrones (the book) and I wonder how Spoiler they're gonna show those dragons at the end of the series.. hope the CGI doesn't look cheesy. Btw... I don't know if it was here at Clutchfans or a different forum, but someone who said that Jon is gonna ride a dragon (it was not spoilered) at the last episode almost ruined the book for me.. I was expecting the whole time it was gonna happen as I neared the end of the book, which I believe I should have been shocked.. and now I'm also expecting that somewhere in the next three novels Jon Snow is gonna be riding a dragon.. what a freakin douchebag. Sad what happens to Ned.. my favorite character was Syrio.. I'm hoping he isn't dead, if he is or isn't please don't spoil it for me.. Also.. as I go on to Clash of Kings.. it makes me sad that the whole series isn't finished.. I'm afraid when I finish the next three (or four) books in this series there will be some huge cliffhanger leaving me to wait for four or five years for the next novel.. I've already voiced this issue, I know.. I might check out Joe Abercrombie's The Sword Itself, after I finish with the next four novels in ASAIF.. Since people say it's somewhat similar and it's already complete.. I don't want to check out Mazalon as people say it's a lot of crap that goes on and on without explaining what this or that is.. Overall as I completed Game of Thrones it's left with me satisfied.. my first fantasy book finished.. good stuff.
I am not speaking specifically to any character mentioned in your post, but as a general rule; don't get too emotionally invested in any character in ASOIAF cause chances are George will kill'em off. He is a cruel author. That being said, George also introduces lots of new chracters in every book (usually one or two POVs will be from new characters). For example, CoK has 4-5 big players introduced that I can think of off the top of my head, and most are interesting. 5th book comes out in July so thats alteast one more book for you. There are also some short stories that take place in the world of Westeros but aren't part of the main line story (never read them so can't comment on how good they are): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Song_of_Ice_and_Fire#Supplementary_works
Yeah I've read this and it sucks.. I believe he should have had some characters that are there from the beginning to the end for the reader to sympathize with that character for more emotional effect..
No need for a spoiler tag...Jon's at the freaking Wall, winter is coming, and that bs scenario about him riding anything other than a horse is just someone ****ing with you. Nothing has been spoiled, that hasnt happened.
The claim that GRRM kills off too many characters is an exaggeration. For example, through four books, the list of POV characters (with more than one chapter) that have died is as follows: Spoiler
