That's HBO for you. The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Big Love, Boardwalk Emire and most of the rest of their original series feature a full intro and full credits.

In this day and age where most network shows skip intros alltogether (or shorten them as the series goes on... like in the office), I like the continuity that HBO keeps with their intros.

The Sopranos intro was almost just as long and was far less interesting than the animation for GOT.

The fact that the intro for Game of Thrones has some differences sometimes helps, too. And the theme song owns. It gets stuck in my head all the time.

Wait, the intros have been different? Was this last one different since they went to go see Cat's sister? I've been just FF through it after watching it episode 1.

Best episode so far. I might need to reread the book because I don't recall Ned sword swinging with Jaime but I know that Jory was kill during the arrest. Another thing I don't remember is I didn't know that the Hound save Ser Loras from The Mountain and didn't know Ser Loras was gay.

I'm kind of disappointed that they decided to leave out characters' dreams and flash back especially from Ned point of view. I thought the whole Lyanna part in the book was pretty important that could've made the show even more interesting.

When I read it I imagined Vincent Regan the way he looked in TROY:

She's been the favorite on the WIC comments for awhile. She's ugly enough but I wonder if she's "Manly" enough in size.

Most likely, the roles will go to people we never heard of. Perhaps Brienne will go to someone with a "non-traditional" acting background due to the physicality of the role: perhaps someone who works as a stunt woman, in sports, or maybe professional wrestling (is there someone who looks like "Chyna" nowadays)? Most actresses just don't look like the character.

Question: Why did GRRM choose to make the series 7 books? How does one decide that anyway? Didn't someone say GRRM has no outline on how the plot is going to go? Did he just choose a lucky number for the number of books in the series and say it's going to be that long? Hmm...

He's altered the number of books the series was going to be a couple times. I think it started off as 4 then went to 6 and now at 7.

GRRM has stated that he knew the ending before he started writing the series ( 'I know the destination, but not the route' ). Based on this, I guess GRRM feels he can make a confident prediction of how many books it will take to get where he wants to go.

You might want to spoiler tag that casting description, Carl. It has some spoilerish stuff in it.

I love how efficient some of the character moments are in this show. In just a brief few seconds of interaction between Tyrion and Bronn, you get a sense of their characters and why they will work well together. That's EXACTLY the kind of thing they are going to have to manage in order to pull this thing off, and they have done spectacularly so far.

Heck of an update from George on why A Dance With Dragons took so long. Plus some details on the new POV's. Don't read unless you've made it to the end of Feast For Crows.

Thanks, Chuck, for the link... interesting stuff.

It makes me wonder if Brienne is truly dead-- though just because you are not a POV character doesn't mean you are not alive.

Also, who do you think the "old POV character we haven't seen for a while returning rather worse for the wear" is? My guess is Cat/Lady Stoneheart.

I don't think Brienne is dead....why end it on a cliffhanger if she was going to die on the rope?

    Theon.
