I would say yes its a different kind of rebuild, we have alot of lottery players T-will, Ppat, Hasheem and this years pick i would be more than happy to watch those players develop and aquire a high draft pick in the process... If we had a team like the cavaliers had this past season then thats a different story.

I don't know how can I consume more, since I watch every game live at 2-3 am, a lot of sleepless nights because of this team. Even if they lose majority of the next year games I'll still watch them live.

How many of you claiming you'd watch crappy ball are watching the Astros this season?

A team going through drastic changes like the Rockets are will get more interest from their local fan base than that of one that is set on mediocrity. Trust me, I have had to suffer for the last couple years up here in Dallas. Until three weeks ago, the Mavericks were about as irrelevant to their city and fanbase as the New Kids on the Block.

If for some reason the Rockets suck next year, I believe the fan base would adjust to the losses and get more interested in young prospects, the next years draft, and trade rumours. Live attendence (not necessarily ticket sales) would decline dramatically when the "fans" in the lower bowl only show up to the games when Lebron or Kobe are in town.

I for one, will always root for the Rockets, and suffer through more seasons rooting for the Astros. I would bet that it will take much longer for them to become relevant than the Rockets.

Answer is yes. You simply follow the bad team for one year, and then next year you would have a top five pick, the team can make a playoff ran within couple of years. Current team is just a mediocre one at the best even with a 40 plus win every year. Houston is not LA or NY, free agents are not coming here right now, we have to build the team though the drift.

I'll follow the same, win or lose, hope there is a plan that ends in success.

By the way, you can look at the start dates of a lot of us to get that answer, I have been following them since 1972-73, I don't think I can stop now.

If I followed them through 15 win seasons, I would follow them through 20 win seasons.

But as Max said, I reserve the right to criticize.

Depends on the team makeup. If we've got a bunch of D-leaguers out there then I'm not overly fanatical. If high upside guys are playing hard and falling short, I'm all over it.

Also, as long as Chuck and Kyle are on the floor, I'm into it.

Yes, I would watch. I might even enjoy it more. Think of it this way: Who is more excited about their team, Clippers fans or Hawks fans?

It's the Hawks fans, right? Their team won more games, made the playoffs, and even made it out of the first round! On the other hand, they are capped out, locked into big deals with aging players and have no realistic way of improving to contender status.

Contrast that with the Clips. They're packed with young talent, including (arguably) the league's most exciting player. They may have another bad season or two, but that team will be a force for years to come.

I'm more interested in winning championships than winning games.

If Chuck and Kyle are on the floor, we won't be a 20-win team.

A 20-win team will probably a high upside guy or two (i.e. your recent draft pick... of course, you may not have them that first year before you got to pick anyone high), maybe a few more we can fool ourselves into thinking as high upside guys, the rest of the roster are going to be just bad players, cancers, or injured guys.

You don't get to 20-wins by just having a bunch of budding Blake Griffins and Lebron Jameson the squad who are simply waiting to grow up.

Comic genius or delusional imbecile? Who can say?

As for me, I'll keep watching, but I'll b**** more, blame the refs more, blame the coaching staff more, blame the front office more, hang up on the ticket reps more, and not buy season tickets.

If they're winning you wanna see them, and if they're losing you're hoping they improve. Always a fan, but doesn't mean you always have to be happy with the product they're selling. Would consume same.

Also, record is not the only benchmark for how entertaining a team is... and if you're an NBA fan in general, there are always two teams on the court.

Their have just been too many years that we have had expectations and failed to meet them. If we were to enter a season without any expectations but getting a top pick, I would definitely consume less based on the fact that if we are going to hit rock bottom to come up it would have to be without Morey. I love Morey and think he has done pretty decent job, but if we are going to totally rebuild we minus well start at the GM position. Other than that I hope we stay on the same path and continue to get better.

I will still consume them as long as they have a direction unlike a certain baseball team in town.

I'm sorry but it's just not fun to watch losing basketball. I wouldn't watch it until they started doing well again. Maybe the games where they can be competitive but I wouldn't tune in for most games they are likely to lose.
For me, to watch, they have to have a chance to win.

Much rather watch a 20 win team knowing a top pick is on the way then the best team in the league that didn't make the playoffs....again.

This. This is where my motivation to watch them would come from. It much like what's going to happen with the Astros as they go through their rebuilding.
