So Cuban isn't self-promoting? Are we gonna keep pretending that Carl Herrera doesn't sniff glue?

The biggest difference is that Dirk stayed healthy and Yao did not.

    That's it.

If Yao had been healthy the Rockets would be right there as a contender in the west.

I know we all hate Cuban, but I don't think anyone ever felt that he isn't running a team exactly like an owner should run a team. I mean really you're pointing out the obvious in this thread (which ya do a lot, but usually you do it in a funny way, rather than such an obvious way).

    you nailed it.

For us who've seen Clutch City , we anticipated that game 7 vs the Mavericks would be an epic game like the Mario Elie Kiss of Death game or any of those badass game 7s of the 90s. but that Mavericks loss killed the thought we were for real and the Utah series solidified the fact that we didn't have what it takes. It was a sad reality slapping Rocket fans in the face.

Alexander is definitely a businessman, and nothing is wrong with that for casual fans. but for fans who are more into the team, it's been frustrating.

The Mavericks are in the Western Conference Finals.

the last time the Rockets were in that situation...

My point is...there is little use for a thread praising the Mavs. I mean seriously, some people 'round here have been riding them like a rodeo show.

You keep telling yourself that. Yao was healthy in the playoffs in 2004, 2005, and 2007. All that got us was three first round exits.

The Mavs have simply done a much better job of surrounding their best player with good pieces.

I guess. But as someone pointed out. Having healthy players helps.
I think in the past years. . . The Rockets have lost more as underdogs
than favorites. I don't think the same can be said of the Mavs

as far as CLASS? I have no comment on that.
I like Mark Cuban. No problem with him really.
I think Irk is a soft jump shooting big man . . .not that there is anything wrong with that .

    One more thing
For all the people sniffing the Dallas Glue
If the rockets had brought in J Kidd . . . most would have had a Fit
    HE TOO OLD . . Etc. . . etc. . . .

    Hindsight is all 20/20

wow do people still believe that. Dirk has been to the finals. He has won the mvp. He has won first team all nba. Plus he is pretty durable. At this point yao is nowhere near dirk.

I hate it when people make excuses like these.

    It makes us look pathetic.

Cuban has disappeared in these playoffs anyway. Wonder what Stern had to do to keep Cuban from running to the media after every game.

For whatever reason Cuban doesn't bother me nearly as much as he used to.

Its a voluntary self-muzzling. I think his players appreciate it too.

They've basically had the same team for 3-4 years and now folks wanna give them props...Thats what I call bandwagoners...Since I didnt like them before , I dont like em now...But I respect that they've been through hell and back the last couple years and have finally seemed to persevere... Makes you appreciate what they've done...

I hate to admit it, but I agree...you can tell he loves the sport, his team and will do anything to win...that's rare nowadays...

Cuban is willing to spend lots money for his team winning, and Les is willing to save some money for his team winning (for example, not using MLE). There is a big difference between two. As a NBA fan, you just hope the rocket owner is Cuban, but the life is not perfect, Les is still a good owner when you compare him to someone from LA Clippers.
